Hedo Turkoglu: Possible DNP vs. USA

Post#1 » by Ern III » Wed Jul 30, 2008 2:30 am

http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/07/29/sports/OLY-BKO-US-Bigger-Challenges.php

"Orlando's Hedo Turkoglu, voted the NBA's most improved player last season, is on the roster but has not been cleared to play because of an undisclosed reason. The team hopes the 6-10 forward will be cleared in time to be in uniform."

Anybody have any answers as to why? It's not an insurance issue, is it?

I would bet it is, it happens every year for various players for the international tournaments. For Turkey it is not a tune-up game for the olympics, just a mere exhibition game in the middle of 2 seasons, so it is somewhat understandable if Orlando is asking if it´s really nescessary that he plays and asks for proper insurance at least.

It's not only exhibition game - Turkey is preparing for the Eurobasket 2009 qualifications, they are in group with Belgium, France and Ukraine.
