What's the news on this guy?
He's supposedly the next best European prospect.

IMO Giorgi Shermadini is better than him. But hey, Draftexpress sets all the rules these days.

That's basically it. Tomorrow he'll be playing in the next Nike Hoops Summit in Portland. The game is going to be broadcasted by FSN. I hope he joins a top European club next season to see how he performs at a higher level. Right now he reminds me a lot of a younger, taller Al Jefferson if Al Jefferson had never entered in a weight room.

He reminds me somewhat of Gregor Futska. Not sure if he is the kind of player that should be NBA bound.

Those are big words.

Not really because that would make Donatas largely ineffective at the next level.

Al Jefferson's footwork on anyone makes them at least interesting. Add the "taller" part and you could have a nice player.
I miss Al. Rumor has it he has gotten in crazy shape while out. Him and Brewer and having good recoveries.

Gregor ****? Why? Because of the body type?
Not sure if he is the kind of player that should be NBA bound
With this I may agree. But he's so young, how can one be sure of anything?

Yeah, and I was basically thinking about the footwork - Motiejunas didn't have the luxury of a few years working with Clifford Ray and a season with Kevin McHale, but he's extremely skilled and polished. I can't think of many youngsters of his age with such a diversified and developed post game. He was the played I had more fun watching seeing youth tournaments in the last few years. He'll need lots of other things to play in the NBA: for example, to build a body and the right mentality, something it's difficult to understand he may have because he's never played at a high level as a pro.

Mike Schmidt has a nice write-up on him at DX right now.

If he had a little luck in the 1st half he probably would have had 30, long way to go though, i was expecting more of a lowpost player but he seems to want to play outisde a lot. I was actually more impressed with Zubcic and Macvan but Donatas is intriguing.
If you had to rank the best players on the court the 3 foreignes would probably be ranked in the top 6 or so, of course having the Maestro there (Ricky Rubio) would have made it perfect and frankly might have made it a rout but it would have been nice. The USA just didnt have anyone on the boards to be able to win this game. Entertaining to say the least.

True. Probably it was by coaching design though; every time I saw him in the past he was playing much more inside. I'm really curious to see him playing at a higher level.
Zubcic surprised me, he looks much improved from last year U18 EC.

Am I seeing the Pecherov 2.0 in Donatas Motiejunas?

^No. After watching him in that game, he's going to be better than Pecherov. Pecherov wants absolutely nothing to do with anything inside the 3-point line. Motiejunas showed he can at least post up. Add some bulk on his frame, 15-25 pounds of muscle, and I'd say he'd be a go-to guy in the low-post.
