Victor Claver

Post#1 » by brassviews » Fri Apr 17, 2009 5:13 pm

He was slated to be a lottery pick in this year's draft before he got injured.

Just wondering what the deal is with him since he was expected to return in April.

Here's a nice video of him

I don't know, but he hasn't been doing much of anything other than playing in ACB.

Apparently, Claver has an offer of about 1.2 million euros net a year from Unicaja and other teams like Barca and Real are also interested in offering similar amounts. It seems that both the Knicks and Raptors are interested in drafting him and want him to come work out with them, but even if they draft him the chances he goes to the NBA in the near future will be small if he signs that contract, similar to the Splitter and Pekovic situations.

I'm concerned that Claver hit a plateau. His game hasn't advanced the way it was supposed to, and he was listed as a possible pick last year as well, but i've never heard of him in the lottery.

It won't matter if he signs a contract that big.

He was having a very strong season for Pamesa until he broke his leg, probably being their most valuable player. He came back last week. I very much doubt those offers from Unicaja, Real or Barcelona; absolutely nonsensical.

Currently, Claver lacks the ball-handling, the lateral quickness and the shot-creation skills to be a good NBA perimeter player, but he has some potential left and at the very least he's a tweener with decent shooting skills.

Well I did hear about those offers, but it could just be coming from his agent.

I've always seen him more like a PF a la Nowitzky than a true SF but that's the position he wants to play at least for now, anyway i doubt he leaves Pamesa except for going to the NBA.
Probably (hopefully) you'll can see him with the spanish NT this summer.

he has being injuried like 5 months, lets see how ends the season and the PO( maybe there are only 5 games left for his team). The stat of the season was awasome.

He declared for draft, most likely will stay overseas another year or two.
