I didn't know that, I had not heard anything about that. I'm surprised by that considering he hasn't done anything at all so far. I guess they must be letting Lynn Greer go and he must be replacing him then.
http://euroleague2008.infrontams.biz/pu ... hp?id=2959Watch that and Euroleague.net claims Olympiacos extended his contract.

Wow. I figured Pargo would want to come back and play in the NBA. He must really like the money and traveling around.

Well he's in Athens, which is great and great weather and Mediterranean lifestyle. Plus he gets paid a huge salary so I guess it makes perfect sense for him. What surprises me though is that he's just a role player and not even that important of one on Olympiacos right now, so I figured he would want to go somewhere with a bigger role. I mean, he's got less of a role now than he had in New Orleans.
It must mean that they promised him a big role next year.

Lynn Greer was receiving around 25-30 minutes of playing time before Pargo got there, right? So if Greer goes, Pargo will already know the system and have a chance to show what he can really do with a better amount of playing time. Olympiacos won't have to necessarily start from scratch if they were to add a point guard this summer.
I remember the owners were saying they had plans to bring over quality NBA players, like Josh Childress. Having two bonafide NBA players on the roster might help convince an NBA free agent that the Greek lifestyle, and money, is worth it for a year or two.

Yes but the problem is that both Childress and Pargo have been absolutely awful this year. That's why this is surprising to me. Greer on the other hand plays very well for them, but those other two are quite bad.

The speaker is just saying he thinks that Pargo deserves an extention of his contract, not that it was extended.

No. He clearly said he got one. And he sure the hell didn't earn one with his horrible season.

Probably not, but if they know that Greer will leave for playing time with a good team and more money, Olympiacos was protecting their investment by making sure a talent like Pargo, regardless if he earned his contract or not, didn't leave, also.
And if he didn't earn it, you now know personally what every NBA fan goes through when their team signs a schlub (bad player) to a big contract, even if they didn't earn it.

I was watching the Nuggets vs Hornets blowout yesterday and the announcers were like "where is Pargo, if Pargo was here like in last year's playoffs, this wouldn't have happened!"
And no, i don't think Olympiacos is going to keep Pargo and probably himself doesn't want to stay either.

Now this is what I expected after the horrible season Pargo had with Olympiacos.
http://www.talkbasket.net/news/jannero- ... iacos.htmlOlympiacos failed to win this season's Euroleague, as they took the 4th place in the Final 4 which was held in Berlin. A player from which Olympiakos board and fans expected more, was Jannero Pargo. The American guard joined the Greek team in January, as a short-term replacement to Josh Childress.
He managed to play in 4 games in the Greek League where he averaged 5 points and 2 assists. He participated in 11 Euroleague matches with 3.5 points and 1.4 assists per game. Olympiacos are allowed to have 2 non-EU players in their squad for the domestic championship, which means that Pargo's career in Greece has come to an end.
