So it seems that Josh Childress might return to the NBA (giving up tens of millions of dollars) because he says the violence in the Greek League is too much for him. This after the riot during the Greek Finals in game 1.

It seems that there is yet again US media making stuff up when it comes to European basketball and former NBA players.

It's kind of ironic how the NBA section of ESPN mentions of this. Yet they didn't even mention the Euroleague Final or anything to do with the Euroleague playoffs

I enjoy watching the NBA (along with its affiliates) but sometimes they pissed me off with their crap.

Firstly : He´d be right for calling that out. Seriously, how anyone can find these type of things ok or belitling (sp ?) those incident is beyond me. This has nothing to do with sports or fan culture, period.

secondly : People honestly trust US media wrting about european basketball ? (on the other hand it is the same with a lot of the european media reporting about NBA related topics, so don´t get all offended)

The behaviour of the Greek fans was once again an absolute disgrace. Maybe they should import some German polices to Greece.

Anyway, how can the refs miss those calls in that last play? Saras fouls Papaloukas and Diamantidis touches the net. Plus, that 5th foul on Mourousis was also arguable to say the least, Pekovic pushes him. Panathinaikos is the superior team, though; Oly can't defend inside and their guards can't beat Obradovic's defensive strategy.

Players coming from the NBA often play a lot better in their second season in Europe. I would love to see Childress another year here to see if he can make the adjustments to become a lot more effective.

Well if he was stronger he could be use as PF, on some stretches, but Olympiacos have 2 combo F's so i really doubt, if he will ever play up his contract. Better yes but... Anyway this summer looks very interesting in Greece. I cant wait what Olympiacos owners will do after an ugly finish of the season

Childress simply isn't much better than what he showed this season. I never understood the fascination with him. He handles the ball like a point-forward but he doesn't have the vision or the creativity to play the position and he can't create off the bounce for himself; he's a solid defender from a fundamentals perspective but doesn't have a defensive position, not quick enough to guard the perimeter, not strong enough to defend inside (he's good playing on-the-ball defence versus the slower European leading guards, but that's all); he's an energy guy who can't play inside; he's a perimeter player who doesn't shoot well.

I think Atlanta is better served with Mo Evans than they'd be with Childress, it was a good swap for them.

He won't be more effective. Teams now have a scouting report on him and know how to defend him. This year most clubs didn't even know to slack off him.

Exactly.
Many American fans were stunned when he was signed to that huge contract in Greece.
We had heard the rumblings that some American players were being targeted by a few big Euro clubs, but when Childress was inked, a lot of us said why him? Lol.

A lot of people over here thought he was enormous reach where Atlanta picked him in the draft and I always thought he was somewhat overrated.
I mean he's a pretty solid all around player that can somewhat effectively play 3 positions, but he didn't play any of them particularly well even though it was obvious he was mainly a SF.
Pretty good big minute role player, but never a guy I would give a big contract to.
Great hair though.
