i only got to watch about 5 minutes of this game, but it looks like a pretty perfect backup game from Maledon as well.

Wow, just wow! Did not expect that result.

This team is playing hard, and kudos to Cliff for coaching up this group. Hayward makes a big difference. Richards has transformed into a good center. I’ve always liked DSJ…maybe he just needed time and trials to get his head and approach straight. If they both keep this up we may have caught a HUGE break!

Does this make a case stronger to try and trade Rozier for a reserve shooting guard, or package players for a PF (still think PJ is too inconsistent to sink big money into him)? Heck, Oubre even looks better so far…as long as he plays disciplined ball.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Rozier doesn't need to go anywhere. He's on a solid contract, plays hard, and is the leader of this team

It is pretty incredible how competent our defense looks compared to last year.

i think a big part of that is finally finding a legit point of attack defender in dsj.
but cliffs schemes much better
- get back on def
- stop lazy fouls
nick crushing
gh better defender than miles
continued growth of pj
oubre not getting away with no effort

was today the most improbable 2-0 in hornets-panthers history?

well thats the future problem Charlotte will realistically face.

How much to resign Richards and maybe DSJ?

Richards could turn out pretty stuffing expensive

I love how Richards cleans the glass. Plumlee always gives up so many second and third chances and if there's a 50-50 ball, Plumlee loses that battle 80% of the time

also shout out to Thor this game, he was securing those boards too. As much as I like PJ, he's also pretty mediocre on the glass. It seemed like we were giving up no offensive rebounds with Richards & Thor out there, which was a huge problem for us last year

Bucs were favored by 13, Panthers won by 18
Hawks were favored by 10, Hornets won by 17

Crazy, yeah it would be interesting to see the last time both teams were double digit underdogs and they ended up winning by double digits on the same day

We are currently sporting the 4th best ORTG, 12th best DRTG, 5th best net rating, and we're still 6th in pace. All that without Melo and Cody Martin and a game without Terry.

Still super early, but that's pretty incredible.

Assuming all that holds out over the season (huge ass assumption), that would make us a lock for at least the 6th seed in the East.

Well...I hope some eyebrows were raised haha.

If/when we are ever at full strength, we have a legitimate 10 man rotation:

Melo/DSJ
Terry/Martin
Hayward/Oubre
PJ/McD
Plumlee/Nick

Thor/Theo/Bouk/Mark depth pieces (for now).

Thor came in and immediately changed the way we cleaned up the glass. He knew what Cliff wanted from him and gave him exactly that. I hope Cliff realizes we can go 11-12 deep every game and mix in Thor and Theo. Thor can play 3-4 and is a very versatile defender, and I think Theo can play alongside Melo in stretches. Good defender, soild playmaker, and doesn't hurt to have multiple ball handlers on the court at once.

We can easily load manage Gordon and start Oubre with McD/Thor soaking up the minutes. Giving Gordon the best chance to stay healthy is imperative.

Also it's becoming more and more clear that Richards will be the starter, likely before the start of 2023. My goodness what a leap he's seemed to have taken.

Cliff has to be given an A+ thus far. Commands the team like JB never could.

Need to see if we can maintain level if defensive intensity with Melo back into the mix. Melo has to buy in and be able to match. I'd like to see Melo paired often with dsj so Melo can defend off point of attack.

Thought the same thing last night. If DSJ doesn't turn out to be a mirage, I can definitely see him on court with Melo for stretches. That Melo/Rozier front court is scaring no one defensively.
