Makes you wonder where he'd be at this point with a relatively steady dose of development time on the court without being pulled after his first mistake or racking up DNP-CDs
For reference, Mitch stated his displeasure with Borrego not playing the young guys and that impacting the decision to fire him
Kai, Thor, Bouk have thus far played a combined total of 1279 minutes for what is expected to be a 23 win team.

this furthers my theory that we didn't "choose" Steve Clifford, he was literally the only coach that was willing to take the job after Kenny bitched out

This is the only thing giving me hope they might fire him this offseason. Its hard for me to believe Mitch wanted Clifford as his coach.

Agreed, Clifford was a break glass in case of emergency hire.

I'd be floored if he wasn't
He was brought in to do one thing- get this team disciplined and organized, and defend better. That is literally the only thing he can do.
This team is exactly as undisciplined and disorganized as last year, and was just as bad defensively before Mark became a starter.
There is no upside at all with Clifford staying here. He's a smart dude but he's not NBA head coach material anymore.

Re: GT: Charlotte vs Utah 3/11 7PM
I don't buy he was the only coach to take the job....I'm very certain that Charles Lee or one of these other young assistants would have loved the chance to be a head coach. Heck we interviewed the current Jazz head coach and said no thanks...and he is way better than Clifford.
We just have a cheap, bad (basketball wise) owner that isn't connected at all to the current NBA infrastructure. He wanted an established coach. Doesn't it seem like the Hornets are just so disconnected from the rest of the NBA? Also I believe Mike D and Kenny would have came here if we had a Tepper like owner that gave him whatever resources they wanted to build the staff, but that clearly wasn't the case.

I think MJ specifically wanted Clifford. He's "old school" or whatever.

Good to see our mediocre vets all play almost 36 minutes while we have 22 wins.
