We should not be surprised at all by this btw. We are setup to lose a lot this season. We would need stellar games from LeMelo, Miles and Miller to have a chance at wins. That's a tall task for all 3 to be hot every game. Our lack of backup PG, shooting and defense oh and backup C makes it impossible to win a lot of games with this team.

Well 7 wins in 82 games isn't the same as 7 wins in 66 games.

From a game standpoint, Melo was pretty awful from start to finish. He is the main reason we lost.
Miles played great first half, awful in 2nd half. Give him some blame too.
Clifford not getting Miller 1 shot attempt in the 4th quarter is bad coaching.

We win this game with Terry, that will probably be a thing that happens 5-6 times this year and a reason I never think removing talent is somehow going to make the team better right now. Still happy with trade, but just know we are more dependent on Miller, Miles and Melo more than ever.

Play Leaky more. Can Nick Smith Jr stop acting like he is afraid to shoot a layup? 2 shots in 17 mins isn't what we need from him. He has to be better.

Yeah, 9 is the magic number which I imagine they'll surpass (but not by much). Win number 6 is coming against us in another month or two I bet.

Our spacing is obliterated with Richards back. Cliff either needs to find a way to move him out of the way, trade him or start PJ at C. None of those things will happen this season though.

I thought Richards was the other bright spot out of Miller. He was punishing Detroit all night on the roll dunk after dunk.

That was over by the 4th so by that time he was just cluttering the paint slapping at rebounds. He did have a good 3 quarters though.

Nick Smith Jr needs to work on that in the offseason. He's very reluctant to take anything to the rim, and when he has his finishing has been poor so far.

2 shots in 17 minutes also needs to fall a bit on Melo and the coach too though.

I swear the 2021 ROTY race has made Ant fans so insecure.

Umm I'm not an Ant fan I just live on Planet Earth where Ant has vastly surpassed LaMelo and you know actually plays most games as well. Ant already has played a seasons worth more of games and is the leader on a top seed in the West.

Edwards and Haliburton are just way better at this point. LaMelo has a lot of work to do.

The other stuff is valid, and I do consider Edwards the superior player, but the bold text isn't really due to Ant being better than Melo.

Wolves being the top seed has a lot more to do with their far superior roster than it does Ant's individual brilliance. The second best guy on our team would be like...the 4th or 5th best on Minnesota? Maybe? All three of Ant, KAT and Gobert would be the best player in the history of Charlotte's second crack at an NBA franchise.

Maybe it's not fair to penalize LaMelo for it, but even if Ball had all that around him we don't know that he could lead a team to those heights. Part of leading is being present and healthy.

Ant vs Melo debate isn't much if a debate right now. Same as Hali vs Melo. Both are clear over Melo.

Things can change but winning and actually playing games matters.
