I like him quite a lot, even though he's not a scorer, but he has a pretty high potential as main defender/point forward. He only needs playing time to expand his game on offense (the shooting improving this year being a good thing). His team defense/individual defense are already legit, as his toughness and basket IQ.
I doubt he maintains his name though, he should be 1st round material, esp. in such a weak draft.
Curious on your take on Risacher vs. Saluan - for the life of me I don't see why there's so much separation - Saluan seems like just as good a prospect with arguably better defense and shot (and obviously super athletic).
I’m completely unconvinced that Salaun can actually play basketball, but I agree he has a higher “ceiling” than Risacher.
I actually think the opposite.
I tend to think Risacher has a good chance to become a decent glue guy while i just see some role player duties for Salaun.
Both are had workers, both from families where basketball has always been a thing at the highest level (at least here), but if i had to chose the highest potential, it would be Risacher. he improved quite a lot this year after a year during which he barely played because of his situation at Asvel. With Bourg he has been able to develop as a solid (if not a key) piece.
He seems to be more versatile for me, knowing he's lacking power to match with the most powerful wings in the nba. Otoh, he can give them fit with his off the ball/iq basket. As long as he's not passive (i used to compare him with Batum on other topics here, saying he would be an 'agressive Batum', but he is still lacking in terms of versatility in defense and his passing is quite below Batum's).
Salaun for now is more a spot on shooter (and quite consistent in a pro league at his age, he has hit many clutch shots already incl. some against my home team) for me. And i only see the potential in offense for him. Maybe i am wrong (and i was with Gobert back in time). Hard for me to find a true comparison (he's not David Lee material, nor Teletovic, maybe some Ryan Anderson comparison would be good as as i see him mostly as a perimeter tweener).
He's fast and moves well to find open spot/open teamates but his game would be more efficient in a jump shooting team (like gsw if they are still a thing).
and to be honnest, even if i dont think they will be busts, i would not bet anything that any of our prospect this year can remain in the nba after their rookie contract (for those who will get one).
I would think they would be first rounder but not necessary lottery picks in a normal draft.
Abt Diawara, i will try to find some videos. Basically, in our young nt he was the leader of the defense in his category. he joined Paris after 3 years at insep (our federal elite multisport center), which won the eurocup (against Risacher's team in finale) this year, but Diawara was on loan in second division. His biggest weakness for now is his lack of leadership and his deferent side. He should be some sort of Siskauskas prospect (a great lithuanian point forward we had in the Euroleague more than a decade ago). In offense he should be able to provide what some guys like O Neal can do (at worst, and with a better court vision/playmaking). Defensively, he can do much better (he's taller and his wingspan seems good for the nba but we dont have the measurments you guys have).
I did not speak abt Ajinca's cousin who should get drafted in the second round. He used to play with both Coulibaly and Victor in young categories, and he was the 'clutch ' guy of the team. He has some decent potential as a 3D, but he needs to polish his game
Zach Perrin is another guy that might be in this draft. Solid pf/c even though he needs to be more consistent in offense to have a role (but he has good fundamentals, incl a back to he basket game, just need quicker and better decision/shot making). His ncaa experience has been very short, but he bounced back already and is proving he has a pretty good future as a pro. Since nba is all about potential, i doubt he can be anything else than a late 2nd.
Anyway, i doubt any frenchie is drafted by Charlotte this year, which is a good thing (for you and out nt).
