He's getting awful advice from his handlers.

Feel free to also discuss the other 9 guys in this pretty flat top 10 lol. :D

Think he is discussed a ton right now cause he feels like the default pick if the commonly mocked top 5 (Sarr,Topic,Reed,Risacher, Clingan) comes to fruition

Sheppard is going to do amazing in workouts. Hes going to hit every 3 with a 40 inch vert. He's going to be a riser. If he isn't already. He's built for amazing workouts

I still feel that top 5 could be correct but there's equally high a chance that only 1-3 of those guys are in the eventual top 5. I would not at all be surprised to see Holland, Knecht, Buzelis, Castle and Williams etc all go top 5 too.

Castle is obviously a much better prospect, but if the Spurs wanted a PG with a mediocre jumper and decent defense they could just keep developing Tre Jones and use the pick elsewhere.

They're big on using non-PGs as PGs so that checks out.

You know, I'm intrigued with the possibility of two 6'7" guys on the perimeter. I tell you, Castle and Ball can play together. If Castle thinks he's a point guard, well, that's just fine with LaMelo Ball, who thinks he's a shooting guard.

We should know if he's serious about playing pg. I doubt he works out with us if he really wants to play pg.

We will have our answer soon.

in an ideal offense, LaMelo plays both on and off the ball like he did in Borrego's offense, so I certainly don't mind grabbing someone who is capable with the ball in their hands. I just hope his shooting is better than that awful 27 3P% indicates, and he's not just a taller DSJ.

That seems risky for him. But on the other hand the Spurs could have possibly told him he's their guy and he's just trying to scare teams into not drafting him.

I would love for SA to take him at 4. If he goes to SA at 8 it feels more like a missed opportunity for the teams picking before #8 to finesse some extra assets out of them. Something like trading #6 for #8 and 6 future seconds or a protected future first etc.

100%.

Crossed off (the bottom of) my list.

"Anything else you'd like to know about the job opportunity?"

"Uh, yeah. You already have a CEO?"

"Of course."

"Nah, sorry, this job ain't for me. I consider myself a CEO and need to go to a company without one."

real confidence is not saying you're good enough to be a primary ball-handler and distributor so you want to insist on playing the 1.

real confidence is feeling that no matter what configuration the team you get drafted to, your talent and play will make you rise to the top and force the coach's hand in giving you big minutes and putting the ball in your hand in minutes that matter.

regardless of the logic and thought process behind making that kind of statement, it's just unequivocally stupid to do anything to limit your potential suitors, ESPECIALLY in a flat draft like this.

There are a bunch of relatively equal prospects in this draft so it's not out of the question to see teams decide "**** this headache, we'll take X instead".

Good for him I guess, but just not the smartest way to maximize your draft stock

UConn guys are probably in his ear telling him to steer clear of us https://www.ctinsider.com/sports/uconn-mens-basketball/article/dan-hurley-huskies-james-bouknight-nba-18659113.php

Doesn’t sound like they have a lot of respect for our org

I can't even remember the last time a prospect refused to workout for a team because they already had a starter at their position.

And he's doing it for half the lottery.

Bouknight arrived in Storrs in the summer of 2019 and, not long after, was arrested after an on-campus incident that involved a minor car accident and Bouknight evading arrest. He was suspended for UConn's first three games of the season, but after that was more or less a model citizen in his two years in Storrs.

At some point folks are going to have to come to grips with the fact that Bumknight is the common denominator and will have to grow up and take ownership of his poor life decisions
