Re: GT: CHA vs Rockets Monday December 23rd at 7PM
The level of defensive awareness between Moussa Diabaté and Nick Richards looks significant to me. Diabaté also showed some impressive eurosteps and a spin move in the paint. The man is an animal.
Wish I could say more about Peterson's biggest addition to the team, Salaün. He's young?..I guess that's been said so I have nothing more to add.
I'm comfortable trading Nick Richards at the deadline. I do not need a first. Seconds will do.
I think Mark looks on the cusp of reasserting himself on both ends after a sickening long layoff.

Ass-kickings are easier to take when Salaun plays well than when he has an awful game.

He looks hopeless. Looks like JT Thor out there. Goose egg after goose egg.

Hopefully by changes he means defense. 80 percent of the time the guys play hard as hell. Schemes are awful. It isn’t effort most of the time.

Nice of miles to finally show up when we're down 30 points at halftime. He was atrocious in the first half on both ends.
Once again the on off numbers for most versus Richards Our stark. It happens almost every single game. Unless our coach just completely hates analytics I don't know what we have to lose by just rolling with moose until the analytics show that it's not working.
I really wish ts was stuck in Greensboro so I didn't have to get anxiety every time he played I'd be much happier just checking out his box scores a couple times a month.
And finally hats off to Walker Mehl for stepping up to the Broadcast desk today

I don't disagree but none of those guys are getting paid $30 million
Cody and Green were particularly disappointing.. ts gets a pass because he should be in Greensboro

Never a good sign when the team vet calls the players only meeting at halftime. If we don't Don't see significant changes over the next few games i'll be pretty disappointed in Lee.

Unreasonable how Josh Green consistently gets 30 plus minutes a game, to only give you less than 8 points damn near every single time. It might be time to either let the coach go, or trade half the team.

Re: GT: CHA vs Rockets Monday December 23rd at 7PM
Perhaps in that players meeting Taj Gibson got into LaMelo and Miles for not pushing the pace.
In the second half, the Hornets ran around with their hair on fire every inbound and pushed full court off every defensive rebound or steal.
During the third quarter they looked like the Borrego Hornets. LaMelo went off and hit a string of threes, carving up the defense then dishing to Miles for a three. Hornets barely gained ground down 31 at the half but outplayed a WC contender in the third quarter.
Then during the fourth, something clicked in Miles and he started driving to the rim with a plan and stopped prancing around the three point line with no rim pressure to speak of like Salaün, some unskilled rookie who's in way over his head.
Miles finished the game with 15 points in the 4th and didn't miss a shot. He had a lead pass off a fast break which just missed Diabaté in stride. That broke the momentum. But the Hornets outplayed a WC contender in the 4th.
Miles finished the game with 24 and 8, leading all Hornets in scoring.
So, the Taj meeting affected him. The booes affected all of them. Melo and Miles are still capable of playing like they did under JB. Different coach, different offense. Hopefully, they made their point and the coach took notice.
I care less about Miles having a JB era first half vs. bad second half or vice versa than I do about Miles getting back to the basics of doing what made him a better complement to LaMelo which is bully to the rim, drive with a plan, finish in traffic, run the floor in transition, make quick decisions with ball in hand. Move the ball with purpose. LaMelo doesn't need a chucker beside him.
And I don't care how many threes Lee wants, he should not be disarming Miller of his midrange game if for only to throw off the defense and stop being so predictable.
The defining advantage of the JB offense was that it was unpredictable. If the defense knows you're hoisting a three, it's going to respond and contest more often, and you see everyone's average fall.
Nick Smith Jr. led all rookies in 3 PT accuracy, under Clifford. Now we're talking about him fighting for his NBA life.
Would've loved to see Melo & Miles under JB again, this time with Miller and Mann and Mark.
Plenty of talent on this squad.
They have been injured. They don't yet have chemistry. The coach is going to have to adapt. I hate that either D'Antoni didn't want the job or new ownership wanted a clean budget from the coach down to the end of bench.

I highly doubt it, that seems to be the system. We've been bottom 5 in pace all season.

Definitely not what Miles learned 4 years under JB, LaMelo 2 years.

Ok? I was saying it's part of Lee's system.

Ok. I was saying LaMelo and Miles got back to doing what they did when they were winning (43 games) under a different system.
Okay?

I won't read anything into the second half when Houston was clearly on cruise control.

Re: GT: CHA vs Rockets Monday December 23rd at 7PM
No doubt that any team with Miles and Melo should be running as much as possible, and they probably did come out with a little more urgency due to getting ripped apart at halftime. But you could also make the argument that the Rockets were up 30 and their top five League defense Maybe let up a little bit. I mean miles was only able to do anything once the game was a blowout. So I'm going to need to see that kind of pace and energy from the tip before I believe it was anything other than the Rockets just letting their foot off the gas.MasterIchiro wrote:yosemiteben wrote:MasterIchiro wrote:

So you think Gibson was going into the team meeting telling guys to ignore the coach and run a different system?
I'm not even defending Lee or the system, but it's obviously a bad idea for the players to have a players only meeting where they say let's stop trying to play within the system that our coach is telling us to.

Well if the system sucks (results haven't lied) maybe it's for the better.
