The entire league is getting away with absolutely ridiculous interpretations of handles and footwork though. That is one area that I think almost all fans universally agree they wish the officiating would tighten up on.

That was my plan. But also for insurance for when he's not available since playing guys like Nick Richards 30+ mins per game means we'll never win. If we had Clingan or Edey behind Mark right now, we'd have one of the most solid C rotations in the league plus basically always have a size advantage at that spot. We get killed on depth and if you could get a depth piece out of this draft then it's a W. Instead, we got a "might be someday or might not be ever NBA rotational player" out of this draft with the 6th pick.

Indeed, as many here were wanting us to trade Nick this season. Would love having Clingan here backing Mark. For all the love Moose has, his regular reserve minutes are producing very modest results.

What has Clingan showed this year that you think he is better than Nick was or better than Moussa has been though?

Despite modest averages Clingan has defended well, is a shot blocker, and has size to handle larger centers. Not saying he has been better than Nick….there were many who wanted Nick traded because of lacking attributes that drove them crazy. I thought he was a decent backup, alas he was traded. Clingan, I believe, is a better center than Moose, even as he’s got a lot to learn and much more to prove over time. Young bigs have always taken longer to develop than guards.

It’s a moot point of course, just conversing.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

My (negative) feelings on Clingan aside, as a rook, don't think POR will be considering him for trade any time soon. The center we should be looking at on POR is Time Lord. Gettable defender, rebounder, rim runner, still 27, redundant in POR. Might be had for Josh and (very light) sweetener, esp. if we see Okogie as Josh-ish. (sorry, should move this to Draft Thread)

Clingan 36 off/36 def/32 overall epm
Richards 48 off/50 def/47 overall epm

EPM would say that Clingan has not defended well despite some flashy block #s. Nick grading out as the better player this year.

Hearing Rockets want to reunite Udoka with Timelord. And they are loaded with assets.

Our C2 won't be Timelord.

If it's true about Udoka and Rockets interest, tough to compete. Backup C for the Rockets is also a much more attractive landing spot for Big Bob in terms of playing on a competitive team. (Even if he'd see big individual opportunity in CLT as HOU still has Adams/Landale)
