It's odd. He can play incredibly disengaged for long stretches, then turn his offense on for a quarter or two. Just seems absent-minded and a step slow tonight. I saw him meditating pre-game. He should consider coffee.

EDIT - like there - easily outrebounded by the 6'7" Camara on a 50/50

Defensively, I feel like he finds himself just kinda floating on the weak side, but I haven't been looking too critically. It is very odd. Mental? Strategic?

Feels mental to me - lack of focus/intensity, at least on the defensive end. His last foul a good example - step late. Smaller man he should have tracked and challenged at the rim, but sort of surrendered to lazily arm fouling.

This has to be the only team that only tries to win road games, and holds out all its starters for every home game.

“Alright guys, big homestand coming up, so you know what that means — LaMelo, Miles, you guys take the next few weeks off”

At this point the Hornets should advertise tickets for road games. “Don’t miss the Hornets when they travel to Washington, where you can see LaMelo, Miles and up to FIVE NBA-caliber players! Then stick around for the next home game in Charlotte, when the Swarm’s entire roster gets called up for the whole run! You’ll be completely whelmed!”

Silver lining, Josh okogi looks like a decent rotation wing defender. Could replicate a lot of what Cody does if we were to trade Cody at the deadline. Alternatively, he'll get a chance to showcase for the next few weeks ahead of the trade deadline to attract some interest.

I have tickets next Wednesday and if Lamelo is out due to a bruised p,ussy I’ll be severely upset. Never seen him play in person and spent a ton of money for him to be questionable

I wonder what non-season-ticket-holder fan out there holds the record for most Hornets games attended in person over the past five years without having actually ever seen Lamelo play. I wonder if there's some unlucky fan out there in double digits yet.

I mean the Hornets really can't complain about him not getting voted to the All-star game when he never plays more than five games in a row without needing a few games off.

Maybe im just a stale old 35 yr old boomer at this point but I swear back in the day if you’re a 30ppg scorer and you get singled out as the snub and you immediately have a game against a crappy team at home you would expect that guy to go out there and try to drop 50 at least just out of spite. Instead we get a tank game. Sad

Didnt actually catch the game cause we had a new banh mi shop open up in Austin and im still trying to fill the void left from my former weekly trips to Le’s shop in the old bombed out apocalyptic sugar creek Asian shopping center. No luck..6/10 at best. Maybe I am just a hater

Since LaMelo was drafted, I've been to 12 Hornets games. He's played in four or five of them and only once did I see both a Hornets win and LaMelo on the court. All that to say I consider myself lucky. When I was a kid, we went to one game a year. No way I'd ever have been lucky enough to catch him on the court.

Besides, it's late January -- that means he's about done with basketball until October, and it's time for more Instagram content.

I should add that of the four I've seen him play, only one was a regular season game. Against the Cavs I think on Nov. 1, 2021. Put up 30. I've been to games every month of the year since he was picked and I've seen him as early as October and as late as November.

EDIT: LaMelo also played in a Hornets/Raptors game I attended in February of 2022. So, two regular season games. Best of luck to anyone trying to add to their total before October, unless they're going to a road game.

At the risk of asking an obvious question, did you actually look up his games missed and where they were before you created this theory that he misses more home games than road games?
