Narrative my ass.

I assume this means you didn't actually fact check your own narrative and have no actual idea where we are salary wise relative to the rest of the league.

If not true, please correct me because I'd be curious to see it.

It true, kind of tells me all I need to know.

We are 12 million below the luxury tax, and could've made a consolidation move matching salary, staying 12 million under the luxury tax roughly. But the plan is not to take on longterm salary.

Our salary was basically league average last year, how does that fit this narrative?

IDGAF what you think while you're so wildly making apologies for them.

I'm wildly making apologies for them? Ok, whatever you say

Already explained that to you once but guess you missed it - viewtopic.php?p=119310028#p119310028

We spent more than 5 teams. Okay.

I don't think Okogie is valuable enough to sign to put us just below the tax line and to limit our flexibility for a real difference maker. I basically view them as swapping Connaughton for Okogie, which I don't have strong feelings about although in a void I'd probably prefer Okogie.

But right now, post-waiver, I believe we are at $178M in active salary, 19th in the league and more than 4 playoff teams and SAS.

I just don't see the "they won't spend" narrative born out. This is the same group that took Josh Green into space, which doesn't seem like something a "spend no money" front office would do.

Like if we were BRK or UTA and like way below everyone else I'd get it, but we're basically right around league average.

We spent more than 5 teams. Okay.

We were 1-2% from the median. That's not "crazy cheapskate", for that look at DET or BRK who were like 15% less.

My issue is the refusal (I presume) to use multiple fist round picks from the stash, combined with some players we need to move, to get a quality starting center. Not an all star, not an aged old star, just a quality dependable starting center.

Jeffie is overvaluing our picks. Did anyone see the article on ESPN where NBA talent evaluators said the 2027 draft is garbage? Said it will be the weakest group in ages. Maybe a couple of sure starters but many unknowns and just poor quality. How much is that pick worth?

Everybody thinks we will eventually use this pot of gold to trade for a superstar. Or wait until Melo/Muller prove they’re worth building around (by staying healthy). That’s IMO a fools errand. What do they do if they CANNOT stay healthy? Assets are either valuable or not. Robbing this team of having a good center hinders both the core and our youth development. The rest of the NBA consider our center issue to be complete cluster.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

im guessing they only kept Okogie for his contract, hoping it would might be worth something in a throw in. he's not part of their future plans.

we are all guessing here, i hope/assume they made calls about centres around the league but found none they liked the price of.

i liked Josh but I'm not losing sleep over this. he was a solid backup, i hope he goes to a play off team and gets to shine for another decent contract

Mr. Okogie is a player with marginal value and the NBA has many players that fit this category. Realization factor playing basketball overseas or try other teams. The NBA is extremely competitive and there are only a few available spots on each team. Each year the factor of how much more potential a player has? Josh maybe time is running out and option #2 is overseas. Many players have used this avenue to continue playing and make a good salary.

Josh just signed for 3.1 million. Which seems like his actual market value.

He'd be taking minutes from Liam and Kon. Both look worthy of rotation minutes. And with Sexton here, no need for Green taking minutes from them either, since Josh has no future here. Part of building "sustainably" involves freeing minutes for first round draft picks, something Clifford pushed against when he was here.

My concept of Houston is that they are packed with talent, but I hope he's able to find his way on to the court. Fun player.

True! He signed so cheaply there that he can just be an "in case of emergency" guy.
