Kon and Liam showed so much real skill, promise for how they could develop into key components. Sion was a bit of a reach very early second round and showed it. Hes got some tools, so Rx is a year of Swarm and see where he’s at then.

I just don't think SL is a place where Sion would shine anyway.

It’s not. He has the biggest calves in the NBA though.

nah, if you run around and swipe at everything trying to get a steals record, you are more likely to "shine" in Summer League.
Sion keeping that big body in front of his opponents in the NBA will be a whole lot more valuable.

KJ Simpson and Baugh were so key to the SL team. having guards to handle the ball against full court pressure really helped the Hornets weather the storm of different teams and different systems. and having steady handlers allowed the offense to function consistently throughout the games. I hope they never have the PG-barren teams of years past again.

would have been more interesting if a. he played more or b. basically every top guy didn't dodge us and we could have seen some iso defense against a top perimeter prospect. i think we all remember what Davion Mitchell did to Bouk in SL, so that archetype can shine in the right circumstances in SL but i dont think we got enough tape to really judge either way

I hope we get DJ Rodman on the swarm. He came into that final game and turned the momentum back in our favor before we lost the lead. Might be a guy worth developing in GBO.

Rodman also fits in well with our NSFW naming scheme.

I mentioned it during one of the Summer League games but I think every team we faced ran a full court press or large chunks of the game against us. People thought Mike Dunlap was crazy when he did that in summer league in 2013. Copycat league. Either you have a bunch of guards that can dish out pressure or you have a bunch of cards that can break pressure. Ideally you have both. One way to beat this is for the Hornets to play a lot faster than they did last year. For a player that excels in the open court melo has a strange habit of walking the ball up the court a lot during games.

let me ask you guys this...
do you like that the hornets are having fun tongue and cheek celebrating the summer league chip?
-- i love it. have fun. its for the fans. builds community.
do you think the mj ownership would have reacted this way?
-- i have a hard time seeing mj allowing team to celebrate a summer league chip. he's way too old school, too cool for school mentality.

I think they should celebrate this. In our company I made sure our divisions celebrated major goal accomplishments. It was part of setting expectations, honoring teamwork and results. Winning teams build more winning. I’m sure the Hornets want this to carry into pre work and training camp with all the squad.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

As a parent of an autistic son, I’ve learned to celebrate every victory big or small. Progress isn’t always loud or flashy, but it matters.

I think the Hornets should do the same. Celebrate the wins, no matter how small they seem. That’s how you build a culture that’s used to winning, that expects more, and that dares to dream bigger.

What he meant was Lee went on a 20min deep dive into leveraging the bandwidth of the roster while drilling down into how to fix the center rotation. Leveling the bubbles with the organization and then circling back to synergize the Charlotte culture because they're deserving of a championship because the ecosystem is supportive of a holistic approach game changing return on investment.

I think it's fantastic that the team celebrated the SL title that way with the fans. The fan base needs to know the team cares in these tough times, and vice versa, it was a great (and also rare) opportunity to do that in an organic celebratory way. This is how you build engagement and loyalty, and how you show the city you deserve their money and time and want to earn it.

If I didn't live thousands of miles away I would have attended for sure. If I knew Charles Lee would be there I might have dragooned my nephews into doing the two kids in a trenchcoat trick to sell to him on the idea of a future starting Center. Sometimes gentle ribbing is the best way to make a point.
