Re: Around the NBA 13
Glad he's owning it. That's why Character Matters. And why it was such an odd signing for Rich Cho, one that was so out of character for him. I'm assuming that we all still assume that it was MJ that forced that signing.
God he was so bad.

For whatever reason, I remember being genuinely excited about our signing him. That didn't last long.

you weren't alone, i remember even seeing posts on the general board by randoms thinking the Kemba/Lance back court was going to be good.
Lance looked like a fierce defender and secondary ball handler at Indiana. We had just made the playoffs, it looked like a reasonably good addition.
he was pretty cheap at $9 mill, which was probably a good hint, but if he had have worked out as a true secondary ball handler, the Batum trade might not have happened.

Re: Around the NBA 13
Vividly remember Lance jumping on the scorers table after that game. Was awesome. Also very bad when your apex of the season is the first game and it's all down hill from then.

Re: Around the NBA 13
I loved the Lance signing at the time but in hindsight we had exactly zero starters who could shoot straight. That team was one of the biggest spacing nightmares you'll see post 2000

Re: Around the NBA 13
boredom alert
build your team - based on the players at their non-hornet peaks
5 players $15 cap
bobcats/hornets grid of players who made their names away from charlotte, but played briefly for charlotte at some point in their career.
i was limited by who fanspo.com had in their database

some names i couldn't find that i'll allow
tom chambers $4
juwon howard $4
bj armstrong $3
ricky pierce $3
chuck person $3
micheal adams $2
stacy augmon $2
vernon maxwell $2
larry hughes $2
kwame brown $2
kurt rambis $2
jeff mcinnis $1
flip murray $1
luke ridnour $1

Re: Around the NBA 13
Dwight Howard, Tom Chambers, Jeremy Lin, Derek Anderson, Ben Gordon (ugh, but in '06-'07 over 21 a game on over 41% from 3)
EDIT - Swapped Livingston for Anderson (his '99-'00 season with the spurs where he shot nearly 40% from 3)

Lynch is a great swiss army knife for $1.

Re: Around the NBA 13
screw it, i'm going Dwight and 4 guards/wings
Tony Parker
"All Star' Mo Williams
Linsanity
the year Jason Kapono shot 51% from 3 on the 07 Heat
Dwight
actually yeah Lynch is a better inclusion at $1, i just wanted spacing at all costs next to Dwight

Re: Around the NBA 13
Coleman (attitude aside, he was almost a perfect basketballer with his shooting, size and skill)
Theo Ratliff for his 3.7 blocks a game
Dogface Ellis pure shooting and scoring
Livingston
Linsanity
2 different style scoring guards and ball handlers.
I love doing these things, makes me miss our fantasy drafts. Except I can never get anyone to admit that my team is clearly the best
I just couldn't include Gordon or Dwight **** them
Forgot about fats optional extras, considered mad Max but he and Coleman would either kill each other or someone else.

Re: Around the NBA 13
The Scavenger Hunt drafts were a ton of fun.
I would put all of those things together when I was at work killing time back in the day. Unfortunately Basketball Reference doesn't let you search for statistics like they used to. Most of my categories were dependent on basketball reference searches. But that was a good way to kill the Summer NBA doldrums.
