I like Nazzy

I know the contract is a bit of a bear, but I think he was a good pickup anyway, for several reasons:

1) Brezec was horrid this year and you needed help inside. sidenote: watching Brezec trying to go nuts against the Cats this season was hilarious.

2) While Nazzy may be fairly old and with a long contract, his game does not rely strongly on athleticism. I don't expect a big decline from him. For the same reason, he won't be that hard to move later on if you get a better big man through the draft.

3) He fits very well. I don't know if you noticed but towards the end of the season he started making touch passes to other Cats under the basket. I think he can keep doing that if he gets to stay with the same team and play a reasonable number of minutes with the starters (even if he isn't starting himself). The solid jumper also means he can play beside Meka.

i like him to. He was a pleasant surrpise. Especially his ability to hit that short jumper.

if only our front office could have found a way to make that trade without losing herrmann. i'm not sure i'll ever be OK with nazr at the expense of the fabulous one. we definitely needed someone like nazr but for the life of me i just dont believe there was no way to make that deal without losing walter.

Nazr is a good piece, but we should've gotten a 2nd at least.

For me, the "unsung" MVP would be Nazr Mohammed. Since coming across in the trade with the Pistons Nazr has averaged a very respectable 10.4ppg, 7.5rpg, 1.3apg along with almost a block and a steal a game in only 24.9mpg. He's added some much needed rebounding and an additional interior presence next to Okafor. The range on his J is better than expected as is his ability to play the high post. Now, if only the head coach would play Okafor and Mohammed together.

Okafor and Mohammed can be effective front court against maybe a quarter of the front court pairings in the league. They are not equipped to play against any of our division rivals and I'd say only Chicago, Cleveland, NY and NJ in our conference. Out west they can play against SAS, LAC, DEN and MIN. Mohammed is valuable because he ought to mean that Wallace never has to guard more powerful forwards and he or Dudley are hypothetically the link to guarding the mobile 4s.

Mohammed is light years better than Brezec and doesn't have a bad contract (at least not as bad as people portray it). Still, next year I hope we use Mohammed/Okafor together for 30-35 minutes against select teams, but only 10 mpg together otherwise.

If Vincent is fired and the Bobcats trade Morrison in the offseason don't be suprised to see Fab back with the Bobcats. Jordan and Bickerstaff are big fans of Walter but Vincent wasn't and he wasn't going to play him. The Bobcats keep saying they will improve their roster by trades and not free agent signings so with JRich, Carroll, Wallace, and Dudley all capable of playing the 3 I wouldn't be suprised to see Morrison as the odd guy out.

That idea sounds great to me. Walt was that athletic 4 we needed in order to chase the other athletic PFs in the league.
