Bobcats' board consensus picks ep.6

Post#1 » by doc.end » Thu Apr 17, 2008 1:53 pm

Here we are again. Just few notes:

- i will let players who are known to return in polls, at least the important ones like Griffin, and mark their returning status in the final list. We started soon enough to vote some extra players who will possibly return for another year. (i won't add returning players like Harden as options on purpose, but if it happens nad i found out too late he won't be available, I will offer them as options until we outvote them).

- so consider these players like available to be picked this year i.e. see the option like for example "B.Griffin, if he'd declared in 08"

-assume no trades with the pick or players, we are trying to find out best players for us.

There is a list of players we picked so far in other threads as BPA to keep and become a part of our roster (returning players in italics):

1. M.Beasley (12-3)
2. D.Rose (14-0)
3. OJ Mayo (9-4 over Griffin)
3b. B.Griffin (7-3 over Bayless)
4. A. Randolph (3-2 over Bayless and Gordon)

Although i admit i was bad-tempered, yes, fats, it was necessary. Nobody likes when choosing carefully, considereing what to do and what to do next time and then getting sugestions what should he do when he is going to do the same... So from now I will add options my way and ignore any sugestions. Maybe I will vary them a little bit. If you can't find your desired player in the poll use a write-in option. That should be said.

Hey Guys!

I see that you started without me. My loss. I have a note from my wife's doctor that says that I'm excused because my wife had a four day stay in the hospital. Nothing serious, she's going to be just fine. But I have to congratulate doc.end for picking up the ball and running with it. Doc, you're doing just fine.

I remember last year, we had a lot of instances where you really had to think out the choices carefully. I know I did. I'm going with Love today. That piece that CBS did during the tournament where Love hit consecutive shots from half court, the opposite FT line, and out of bounds the length of the court has wowed me. Someone who has rebounding skills and the ability to demand a defender on an in-bounds play! I'll wait for a guard just a little while longer.

Claw ON!
In loving memory of Barbara Hickman Taylor 07/20/1955-11/27/2010. Rest in Peace Sweet Lady!

I considered Love too, but selected Bayless because I think he's BPA.

Amazingly, I have gotten every pick "right" so far... though I just voted Lopez (I don't really like any of these players, frankly).

Doc, it was not necessary to snap that there is a write-in option. Why shouldn't you pick the players that we KNOW have at least one guy interested in them, as opposed to, say, Ibaka, who's projected 26th on draftexpress and 35th on Chad Ford's list. Augustine makes more sense, I almost voted for him this pick, while Ibaka will wait until... 20, at best?

I went with Gordon. I think he and Bayless are the best two available and while I don't think either one has star potential I feel more sure about Gordon's ability to put up 20ppg. I'm skittish on Bayless, I watched a lot of his games this season and he struck me as just a lot of hype for another volume shooter. Obviously Gordon is a volume shooter as well but he put up great numbers with, imo, less help. He'd be a good spark off the bench for us but ideally you'd want to get better than that with the 6th pick.

going with Bayless here.

I like his 46% from the field better than Gordons 43. I also like his 3 pt shooting ability better. Not to mention he is more versatile.. He's not a true Point man but can hold down the fort there and at the 2 while Gordon is pretty much a 1 trick pony. I also Like Bayless' quickness. Obviously Gordon has the edge in strength but I've seen him have way to many brickfests. I kinda bought into the hype and thought he'd be a little bit better shooting wise than what he really is. I also don't like his Turnovers and overall decision making over Bayless.
