Tweaking the rooster for LB

Now that Larry Brown is Bobcats choach, lets discus what players should MJ and Berni get to make our rooster more to LBs liking?

He has a history of liking tough players who give 100% every night and play D. There are alot of this kindof players allready on the team namely Okafor, Wallace, Dudley and you could make a good argument for Jrich and Felton. I think Okafor is almost certanly going to stay as I think Larry understands that tough big men are hard to find. So in my opinion and I think I'm not alone Bobcats are almost build for LB. Rooster needs just alitle tweaking.

So here it goes trade 1:

Bobcats get:
Boris Diaw

Suns get:
Matt Carroll
Sean May
Harrington

This would be done after July 10(I think) when Diaws BYC is up. Why? Suns need changes and lack outside shooting, I don't think they are ready to blow up the team so Diaw and Barbosa are their best chances for improvement. And considering owners refusal to pay luxury tax Diaw should be first on the list. A good series against Spurs reised his value and they know it's their best chance to trade him and his big contract. Sure they don't get much talent in return and Hammer won't win them no championship it is a step in the right direction and they shed some salary while doing it.

For the Cats the reasoning is this; They lack a PF or another post player. People who hope May is that guy are fooling themselves. May is in my opinion done, he will be happy if he can get through one season without injuries, let alone be a starter in this league. Diaw gives us a player who can arguably play all 5 positions and defend them. He is unselfish player who loves to give up the ball. A player who plays D and shares the ball sounds like a player that LB was talking about in his press conference. He would allow Wallace to play his natural SF position. As far as loosing Carrol it's tough but I expect Morrison to fill his role.

Draft:
If nothing suprising happens and we draft at #8 MJ should take Rusell Westbrook. He is the best player out there in my opinion who could get minutes under LB. He is this season sleeper since there are so many PG/SGs in the 3-15 area. He can dunk with the best of them and his dunks really remind me of monta Ellis. He is a good penetrator but not much of a shooter. He can play some minutes at PG.His worst case is Fred Jones in my opinion.

FA: Sing a vet PG like Lindsey Hunter, Anthony Carter

Lineup:
Felton/Hunter/Westbrook
Jrich/Westbrook
Wallace/Morrison
Diaw/Dudley
Okafor/Mohamed

I liked Diaw a lot more last season than right now. His contract is AWFUL and if he plays like he did recently, then we are stuck with him for a long time. Also you have Diaw playing PF, and with undersized Emeka, that is not really a good combination. We need a much bigger and TOUGH PF who can bang bodies, crash the boards, and also provide us with some offense. This will give Emeka more freedom and space underneath the basket. Diaw would not give us that.

And Dudley looks like a player so we really don't need Diaw. Sure he would be nice for the bench, but he is not a fit for a starter position on this team.

No way. Sean May has more talent than Diaw if he stayed healthy. And he is on rookie salary. We can't afford to add Diaw, that money would go to a player who is a star, not a 5th starter/roleplayer.

any info on this statement? I have worried that it is possible that his career might be over( knee problems)- but any confirmation on his status?

I'd rather have Carroll then Diaw. Seeing as Matts a better fit. Diaws' contract is horrible.

A combo guard, thats what we need the most :roll:

Hunter is staying a Piston whether he resigns or retires...I wouldn't mind Anthony Carter though.

I'm real curious to see what a good coach might get out of MC. I remember MC shutting down Joe Johnson defensively (I'm not kidding. You had to be watching the game to believe it). MC had a run of about 5 min. of just killing JJ, topped off with a nasty under the backboard block which was clean but which was called a foul.

Anyone able to do that to JJ has the defensive ability to be at least average defensively, and possibly more. It's intriguing. Or maybe I'm just an insane optimist.

So I would probably keep MC around for a year just to see what he has in the tank. Barring some crazy good trade.

This was all I could think about watching JJ eviscerate the Celtics the other night, fluff is not exaggerating at all. MC ate his lunch, not just making him miss but getting steals, blocking dunks, etc.

Here it is for the curious... JJ had 20pts on 6-16 most of which came when MC was not guarding him

As for Diaw, I think people underrate him a great deal because he is not so impressive with the ball in his hands. That said, I dont think he fits with this roster, Okafor/Diaw front court is too small. And his contract is terrible....

i dont think you can get equal value for matt in a trade, without him theres nobody on the team that really stretches the defense much unless jrich is on fire

nah carroll is a much better shooter than jrich. jrich has to get in a flow before he starts hitting threes, carroll can come in and catch and shoot threes without warming up

I think everyone is a worthy player for Larry Brown. That's something we've had on a lot of teams which is Hustle players. We beat LAL and Boston through out hustling people. People like Morrison and May will fall into it with the other guys because there coming back from Injury and that's how I see it happening anyways. I see us beating any team in the NBA.
