Several among us (myself included) feel that if the draft lottery on May 20th does not have us among the top two picks, that we should trade out of the # 3, 8, 9, 10, or 11 spots and get better by getting a veteran player with SOLID playoff experience, if not an outright superstar type player in a current position of NEED! I don't know about all of you guys, but I think that the possibility exists that however a trade might be constructed, if our X (fill in X from above numbers) draft pick is traded, we may get a draft pick back at a lower spot in the draft. Operating under that theory, we must understand who might be left on the board who gives us a better chance to "elevate" our team into a better position in the Eastern Conference standings.
That's my theory. There are some variables. Bernie Bickerstaff has had input into every draft the Bobcats have made to date. He will be gone this year. Larry Brown has his own preferences as to the type of players he can coach into winners. (Let's face it- When the rumor gets out that people are tuning out the head coach, we have a problem.) Michael has been reluctant to go after that "High Profile Upside" kind of player. Duly noted, he did give us a scare last year by selecting Brandan Wright, only to trade him to the GSW for JSwish and Davidson. AND, we don't really know what Buzz Peterson's marching orders regarding scouting have yielded yet. If he turns out to be a pretty good evaluator of talent, things could be better much faster than they have been to date.
Now, let's see what you would do with the 17th pick, which as it currently stands would involve a trade with Toronto to get. Toronto's pick. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? (Dudley).

Almost forgot. We have gotten to the point where I can no longer exclude Brandon Rush from the choice list. (Man, have I been avoiding it like crazy.) Stinks, I know, but there he is.

Until tomorrow night, keep clawin, you Cats lovers.
