Alexis Ajinca fans, rejoice. Your man carried more than 50% of the vote in our poll for Pick # 22. We add another center to THE LIST.
Pick # 23 will begin tonight and will get us one spot closer to the end of the first round. If I remember correctly, this is currently the Utah pick. Have we any interest in trading with the Jazz? They have a couple of nice pieces in Williams and Boozer (whom they would demand a king's ransom for in trade). But as a perennial playoff team, and a team in the W.C., they might have some kind of a deal for us- say something with Okur or Kirilenko. I know I'm dreaming, but considering the way that the W. C. teams were trading before the trade deadline, I can honestly say that the hoarding of players might be on the way out.
Now, how does the list below look to you? We have listed:
Point Guards- Derrick Rose, and D. J. Augustin
Shooting Guards- O. J. Mayo, Eric Gordon, and Brandon Rush
Combo Guards- Jerryd Bayless, and Russell Westbrook
Small Forwards- Danillo Gallinari, Donte Greene, and Nicolas Batum
Power Forwards- Michael Beasley, Anthony Randolph, Kevin Love, Darrell Arthur, and Marreese Speights
Combo Forwards- Robin Lopez
Centers- Brook Lopez, DeAndre Jordan, JaVale McGee, Roy Hibbert, Kosta Koufos, and our latest installee- Alexis Ajinca
Now that we have who has been "elected" to our draft board, let's add a new guy! What's your preference? Center, Power Forward, Point Guard, Swing Man... we should have something here to interest you.
So let's begin. You know the drill. 24 hours. 1 vote. 9 players to choose from, plus an opportunity to write in. Thank you and good luck!
Claw on, guys!

Alexander.....
really like him as a player... only downside to me is that I'm skeptical how much PF he can play.
Buddinger strikes me as a guy who relies on his athleticism too much. He can beat up on lesser players but against players as athletic as him he will struggle.
I like CDR alot but the Bobcats don't need another 2
I want nothing to do with Lawson.....
Ellington shouldn't even be on the list IMO
May I humbly suggest JJ hickson or Nikola Pekovic for the next list....

Author's Note to e4Nf6- While I agree with what you said up to the selected quote, I decided that I need a little bit of help in minimizing the possibility that I would not put up credible candidates in "the Nine". What I decided to do was to take five mock drafts which use the full 2 round format and put the contents of those mocks in a spreadsheet. Those 5 mocks are: Draft Express, NBA Draft.net, Cammo's NBA Guru site, RealGM.com's mock, and Hoops Report.
As a player comes off the board, I then take the top 9 Remaining Players from each mock, and add their positions from each mock. I then take their average positions and the top 9 averages are in for the next round. Tonight, one name will come out of the 9, because the new name moving into the 9 has a better average score among the top 9s than the guy originally in the 9.
Specific to your request for Pekovic and Hickson, they each had a problem. Hickson was not included in NBA Draft.net, and was assigned the number equivalent to Pick 61. This I felt was fair, but it killed his average standing. The top 9 for pick # 23 had positional averages of 2.4 to 16.5. Pekovic had a worse fate. Neither RealGM nor Hoops Report had him in their mock. So instead of a 16 average, he ended up with a 40 average, and out of consideration. Ellington, listed in all 5, had an average score of 12.0. Lawson, rated the top remaining player in Hoops Report, and # 2 in RealGM, scores a hefty 6.4 average.
If there is another method of putting forth credible candidates, I am open to consider that. Any comments or ideas, guys?
And, by the way, I voted for Thompson. I want a guy brawny enough to handle the front court, just like e4Nf6. Thompson has that build.

Are you calling me "brawny"?

You've clearly put a lot of thought and effort into finding a reasonably objective way to make the list, so I retract my previous b*tching. In any case I can still vote for whoever as a write in so that's perfectly fair.

for e4- Wasn't talking about any posters. People would look at me and say much worse than Brawny. I don't call people names. Gets too little done. I'd rather work with people than argue. What I was referring to was a comparison of the two players I was considering- Alexander and Thompson. I went to Thompson for the extra height and weight- "Brawny"!
