Not to mention this year's FA crop is very weak on bigs I'd just as soon hang on to him.

His BBIQ is also MUCH higher than Gooden's. His expiring doesn't mean that much to us either as we're trying to get into the playoffs (remember the 8th swap for Swish last year? The expirings for Nazr?).

Hinrich also isn't a plus...his contract blows. THERE'S a brutal contract.

Sooo, 2 negatives plus Noah for Mek. His value might not be "high", but it's certainly higher than this package.

Hinrich's contract doesn't "blow" -- it is frontloaded, so the amount goes down every season. If he returns to his 2006-07 form, the contract is fair market value.

It is frontloaded, but that doesn't take away from the fact that an average PG (last season BELOW average) next year will make 10.25 million bucks. The next next...9.75 and the year after 9.25.

In comparison Crash is making 9.5 per year flat.

Sure it blows. Maybe he returns to '06/'07 form, but even then he's high retail. Nazr (which started this "blow" comparison) is at least worth his contract right now.

Most importantly, he's on the hook until 2012, so even with the declining amounts, if he DOESN'T return to last year's form, it's an untradable disaster for another 3 seasons.

Here's a scenario for if the Bulls draft Beasley.

My thought was Gooden, Tyrus Thomas, Aaron Gray & the Bulls' 2009 1st rounder (top 5 protected) for Okafor and, say, Sean May (only if he's thought to be unlikely to return to high-level basketball & would work as filler).

Gray is a cheap, serviceable 7 footer who can score nicely as a backup C. Thomas is Thomas-- big upside, our coaches screwed with his head and never gave him regular minutes. His stats as a starter last season were quite good.
Gooden is a 14/10 PF/C when he gets 34+mpg, and he's also a $7.5million expiring contract (or an affordable contract if you want to re-sign him).

If pressed I would be prepared to offer Thabo Sefalosha instead of our 2009 1st rounder. Thabo really came on after the all-star break when he got regular minutes; he's a tall, long, defensively capable 2/3 who's also improving offensively. Would allow you to play JRich at SF more of the time.

Not a bad offer, but that would only be if Okafor is gone. I wouldn't do this trade just to do it.

Besides, I think Okafor needs Larry and Larry needs Okafor.

Oh, sure. You don't want to trade Okafor unless you have to; I wouldn't either. I was reacting to the fact that he turned down the Bobcats' offer last season and the possibility that he might want $13+million/yr going forward. If you can keep him you do it, as long as ownership goes along with his salary requirements.

We would have amazing depth at frontcourt in comparison what we are going to have now:

Felton - #9* (Westbrook,Augustin), filler (Boykins, #38, nbdl or camp signee)
Richardson - Carroll, (Sefolosha), (#38)
Wallace - Dudley, Morrison
Gooden - Thomas, Davidson, #9*
Mohammed - Gray, Hollins

But it would be nice seeing Portland east, with all the young talent the Bulls would have with Okafor/Thomas/Deng/Gordon/Rose.

I don't see why the Bulls would select Rose, instead of Beasley. Hinrich was considered a pretty good PG awhile ago, and if you have offensive talent like Beasley/Deng/Gordon surrounding him, you don't need a 20ppg PG.

I would prefer trading our #9 pick for Gooden or one of the players the Bulls deem expendable. They could pick Beasley to fill in at PF, then go with one of the PGs at #9, and end up just as well off.

Uhm, done.
Rose/Gordon
Hinrich/Gordon
Deng/Thabo
Tyrus/Noc
Noah/Jordan/Gray

I'll worry about depth later.
