POR and CHAR EXPANDED

Post#1 » by waverider » Sun Jun 22, 2008 5:17 pm

Hi guys POR fan here, draft time is heating up and the forums as well. I've been here before talking about Frye and POR's 13 for the #9 and filler. Now I hear that its possible Wallace could be moved - could this then allow for an expansion of a POR/CHAR swap.

Pleae don't hammer me as I am just throwin out some ideas to get a discussion going.

You guys need a PF/C and a backup PG primarily? Perhaps a young SF backup if Wallace is traded?

How about a Frye/Outlaw or Webster/Jack and the #13 for Wallace and the #9?

Or we could sub Pryz for Frye? But Pryz seems too similar to Nazr to make a real difference.

Just throwin it out there.

If Wallace is to be traded, it will only be for at least one player of substantial value, not a collection of prospects/role players. So I don't think there's any potential for a deal here that did not include Roy, Oden, or Aldridge, who I imagine you are not ready to trade.

Wallace would be traded to bring in a very good PF. Frye is an underachiever who won't really have a role next year. And you're right Pryz is too "decent" like how Nazr is. *you're not really bothered hes your starter, but you'd love it to be someone better*

Webster doesn't really fit for what the Bobcats need out of SF. Richardson gives us a better version of what Webster could and the Bobcats (at least for the time being) need a SF who can provide 7+ rebounds a game, as well as 1.5 steals a game and about 1 blk a game. Wallace does that. If the team trades him, its because they can get a very good PF or a very similar SF who plays with a little less reckless abandonment.

I'll be honest. If I ran Portland and I was looking to move up. My guess is that Milwaukee, Memphis, Clippers, Nets, and Pacers (last two aren't really great move ups) would be the teams I'd go after.

Bucks are in rebuild mode, The Pacers and Nets should be. Personally, I'd go after Mike Miller from the Grizzlies, not their pick. Clippers always seem to be looking to change, thats why I involved them.

If the draft shakes out like it did in that other thread where they are doing a mock draft of all the teams, and the team just won't draft Augustin...trading #9 to Portland for #13 + Frye makes a lot of sense, if that deal is something that could actually happen. More than likely, if we aren't drafting Augustin, we could draft some of the players we are looking at at #13 anyway.

If Crash and the #9 was coming your way then LMA and the #13 would have to be coming back our way.
We have no need for Webster or Outlaw (who is a poor man's Crash)

Agree with Slam, you can't expect to bring in Gerald Wallace and not expect to send back out LMA, Roy, or Oden. How about you move Frye to PF and send us Aldridge and #13 and we send you Wallace and #9? I think that sounds fair. Although the salaries won't match so a filler would need to be added from Portland's end.
