move up, move back, stay put?

Post#1 » by fatlever » Wed Jun 25, 2008 6:36 pm

the newest rumor per bonnell has us wanting to move up, while many of us have discussed how attractive moving back to around 12-15 would be, due to the depth of bigs.

who would be our target if we were moving up? westbrook? love? mayo?

If we can trade up for Love or Mayo, I would be extremely pleased to do so.

It's perhaps more likely that we move back to 12-15, in which case a guy like Arthur or Speights would be a great fit for us. Staying put has the obvious advantage that you don't give anything up, but then you're taking hte risk that someone you like lands in your lap. I personally would be terrified that we're going to take Randolph or Lopez at 9.

If they move up, I believe they're going to make sure that Russell Westbrook is there, so we can send him off in another deal so we can get Hibbert.

What does everyone think of sending Morrison to Portland for the #13 pick and selecting the Twins?

i think i am ok w/ lopez at 9 (i prefer the guards and love). i'd hate to be a fan of a team that drafts lopez in the top 5, but at 9 i think he represents good value. he wont be a bust. he'll at least be decent starter.

If we were ever to be so lucky as to actually get a lottery pick for Adam Morrison, I would only pray to Jesus that we wouldn't be so stupid as to waste it on Robin Lopez. My god, I think taking him over Arthur or Speights might make my head explode.

I don't "WANT" both...I just threw out the idea for talk because I thought about it and want the input.

I am subscribing to the Murphy's Law approach to this.

If we stay where we are, the guys I really want will go 6, 7, and 8 (That's Westbrook, Love, and Augustin).

If we trade up with Miami, and take Beasley, he will go bust on us, or his agent will pull one of those Kendal Gill things and make signing a real chore. If we trade up with Minny, and take Mayo, for some reason (maybe having to trade Felton or Crash to do this) I think the pick will work out, but we deplete a position that we don't want to deplete (Via the injury bug. We know this rears its ugly head with our team a lot).

Say we trade down to 15, with the idea of getting Hibbert , JaVale, or Speights. Then we see Speights go 12, JaVale go 13, and Roy 14.

Maybe the best thing to do would be to let some team draft for us, and let us draft for them. If we could trust them.

I say we hold our nose, trade down and hope Murphy takes a vacation to Tahiti on Thursday PM.

Take whoever falls, I believe someone will fall to us at 9, whether it be Lopez, Bayless, Gordon, Westbrook, whoever, then get the most out of the player if we don't decide on keeping him.

i would prefer to trade down as opposed to up....honestly i prefer to trade the pick for a vet. No one in this draft impresses me, sorry just dont like any of them but Rose & Beasley(who we arent getting) and I even think Rose is a little overrated. I just dont think there is that big of difference between what we get by trading up as opposed to what falls to us as is, Westbrook is by far my favorite prospect but Im not sold on him I mean he had an average yr as a reserve...every year these young guys get hyped up then very few of them actually live up to the hype and IMO this draft is full of people like that....Plus there are too many questions about trading up....exactly how far do we have to trade up to get the "target"?, What do we have to give up in return?, Who is the target?...

I prefer to move down and hopefully add a piece...for me I think Portland is our ideal trading partner, they have the young talent like Jack, Frye, Outlaw, the 13th, 27th(from NO), and like 4 second rd picks including 2 high ones. With all the youth they have plus Fernandez coming over they dont have enough room on their roster while we need to take a page from them & start stockpiling talent. We are a team that hasnt made the playoffs and last year played with no heart, add as many players as we can and make the whole roster earn their spot....
