After 8 picks, there are a couple of similarities that just smack me in the face.
Look at all the freshmen we have selected. And just take a look at "power conference" PAC 10's domination of our selections!
WOW!

WOW!

JMillott wrote:Eric Gordon is a top 5/6 player in this years draft at worst how the hell does a guy destined to be a 25/4/3 SG finish 10th on your teams board?
A guy who disapeared down the stretch of the college season and tourney is "destined" to be a 25/4/3 guy?
Not only are you over hyping him, but there are better options for us before him any way.

Oh, good! (<---------Please note sarcasm, here.) Now we're upsetting folks from Indiana with our selection order. Guys. We don't mean to be slighting all of the good small forwards or shooting guards out there. But, the way our roster is currently configured, we have way too many servicable 2s and 3s, and not enough 5s, 4s, or 1s. We have basically been discussing the same thing on this board all year.
I for one am treating this year's draft as a "needs" based draft. If we get a draftee that gets us where we want to be, thats OK. If we have to make a trade, thats fine, too. Free agency...well, let's just say that we haven't been attracting many of those just yet. But, we'll get there. The Panthers and Hurricanes seem to be giving North Carolina a good name as a place to live and play ball. It'll bleed over some now that we have a coach that knows what to do to get us up several levels. What can Brown do for you today?

looking back at our top 15 picks, i have to say this isnt too far from my own rankings at the moment. i think we had gallinari and alexander too low, but other than that, pretty decent.
as of now... my rankings for us
1. beasley
2. rose
3. mayo - i'm real close to moving mayo up to number 2. GASP! he just seems to be a perfect compliment to felton, whereas drafting rose would probably facilitate a felton trade.
4. love
5. bayless - i dont like him at all for our team, but i'd probably take him here and look for a trade
6. anthony
7. dj - higher than most teams probably have him ranked. we need depth at pg.
8. westbrook
9. lopez - i just dont like the idea of okafor playing pf. i want okafor at center, therfore lopez slides a bit on my board.
10. gallinari
11. jordan - the ultimate high risk/reward player in this draft.
12. gordon - probably a bit low, but he doesnt really fit a need for us, so he drops a few spots.
13. arthur - fits a need. not really convinced he has what it takes though. lots of upside, so thats good.
14. alexander - i'm convinced you can never have enough 6'9ish guys who can play 3/4.
15. mcgee/speights - flip a coin. one will probably be a player, one will probably be a bust. good luck.

Hmm, have to say that Alexander is underrated badly now that we know how well he tested out and is performing in workouts. Oh well.

Re: The Bobcats Select.....Your War Room Results
That's the negative of starting so early. We ordered 45 players so that took 2 months. I guess someone could be a fascist about it next year and we could do one every day and get 30 first rounders or maybe even start a week before the lottery, since our top 7 looks good except for Randolph.
Any suggestions for how to improve for next year? I think Augusts mock draft database for the 9 selections each round was a big addition.

Re: The Bobcats Select.....Your War Room Results
maybe next year we should just start a bit later (say once the draft order is set) and then concentrate on just the first round???? i pretty much zone out once the second round starts anyway.

Re: The Bobcats Select.....Your War Room Results
Yeah I don't really know much after the first round either. I don't think draft order matters that much, the biggest thing that I wish I had known before starting was the combine stats. But that doesn't really give us enough time.
So I guess try to do one per day for a month before the draft?

Re: The Bobcats Select.....Your War Room Results
Points taken, fellas. I have decided that I need to keep my ear to the ground year round on this. As a result, I think I'm going to check out my mocks every month to check on movement. Who knows, I might even learn something about next year's players. Now, I have to check out details of that deal to get the # 20 this year, to see if we even HAVE a pick next year! Later.
