Channing Frye Vs Charlie V

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Mon Jun 30, 2008 6:16 pm

If we had a choice of adding one, who would you want? Forget about what it was cost to get them, just on pure skill set and compatability, who's your guy?

- Frye has had the advantage of playing under LB before.
- Charlie has had the advantage of playing next to EO50 before

I went with Frye, I like Charlie's skill set better though, but he has tendency to be lazy and lax on D. Plus I think he relies on the perimeter too much. Not sure how good a fit he'd be with LB.

Frye easily. At least he tries.

I'd vote Charlie V. I just feel a little better about his overall game than I do Frye.

Charlie V. The big knock on him is his drive. If anyone is going to get the most out of that guy it's LB. I say if he can be had for cheap then we should go for it. He fills a huge hole, he's a mobile PF, and he comes relatively cheap.

I wouldn't be upset to have Frye either of course, but I think Charlie V. spreads the floor better with his range. Plus we wanted him in 05' but he was taken earlier than expected.

As a stop gap and not factoring in what we'd give up for one of them then Frye. Motivation makes the difference to me.

I dunno (probably Frye). But then JerMareo would be quite obsolete, wouldn't he? Is it just me or Davidson is actually poor man Frye top some extent? I doubt we could get our own Frye from our sources but I would like to know what LB will get out of him regardless.

I'm not so familiar with Villaneuva's play to say who I would like better.

Believe me I would take either player, as we MUST have a starting-quality PF for this team to take significant steps into the playoffs. I think we can get Charlie V easier (and with less costs) than Frye, and I like his outside shot/offensive skillset better. Frye does play harder and is the better defender, but either player will struggle with ultra-quick matchups (though not as much as Okafor). Depends on the deal needed to secure the talent, but I don't see Portland taking DAvidson and either May or Harrington for Frye. That GM has gotten so much via the draft and trades why would he trade Frye now? I think Charlie V could find Charlotte to be a longer-lasting NBA port to build his career, especially with Brown helping him develop and reuniting with Okafor.

Making the deal (if acceptable) as noted above for CV means we can (and should) keep Felton, Wallace, everyone else we've got.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Good correlation...I think Davidson could be like Frye.

I also agree that CV would come a LOT cheaper. I have to wonder how he'd fit with LB though. Would he "make" him or "break" him?

I'd bet on breaking him personally.

Villanueva. Both are "fixer-uppers" at this point and Charlie has more skills then Channing.
