Post Game: Charlotte @ Atlanta 10/13

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Tue Oct 14, 2008 1:34 am

(keep in mind this is based all on the box scores!!)

The good:
We have two PG's who can really pass the rock
We shot 83% from the ft line as a team
Swish scored easily
A and S Brown had an impact off the bench

The bad:
Our two PG's combined for 5/18 from the floor
We only got to the line as a team 18 times to their 32
Swish only scored and didn't do much else
Hammer and McMay were non factors again

Discuss.

The two PGs both played well not counting the crappy shooting; combined they had 17 assists, 8 rebounds and 5 steals with 4 TOs.

IMO best game so far. LB's starting to get thru.

Hopefully Swish is ok. He played right after he hurt his knee but I don't think he came back in the 4th quarter.

Ray was solid up until his stupid move. He tried too hard a key times last season, and that angered me. Stupid mistakes. That was what he did tonight. LB has to tell him he's not superman.

DJ is showing that although he has learning to do, he is way ahead of the curve. Kid is going to be special. Only his 3rd preseason game. I'm guessing that unless Ray makes a quantum leap, that DJ will have that starting job by late this season. You can just see he has all the tools, including a better knack for scoring and doing so smartly.

On the bad, we have a major hole at PF, both on offense and defense. Better get that fixed quickly or we do not have a prayer at the playoffs. Period.

Man I get sick of this new RGM interface eating my posts!!!

3rd time is a charm:

He hurt his knee? What happened?

The combined 4 TO's from our PG's sure was nice. Would have loved to have seen how they racked up all thier assists tonight. From watching the box score, it didn't seem like we rushed too many shots taking them early in the shot clock, which is nice.

hey, we're getting closer. i guess benching ammo and giving duds 20+ minutes is the key.

assists = good sign the team is starting to learn LBs offense. 5 more games to get things right. we must start hot this year.

I still expect a move to come soon. Perhaps that's one of the reason Morrison was on the bench all game.

Shooting will come. The assists number was good and so was the overall rebounding number. Its going to take a little while, but this was a good start.

Got to have a move to get a PF. McMay is still his loveable round mound of no rebound, no D and bad movement...but he is in better shape!! Davidson is clearly not an option (as I said after watching him in SL and stated here), nor is Frenchie (his garbage is something we might have to live with but I'd prefer he learn in the NBDL). Brown is showing some spark at PF and I'd like to have him as our deep bench guy but not as a starter. We have no starter at the 4. How many people would love to have Jeven Josh Powell now????

Morrison with ZERO minutes might mean a near trade, but I suspect he got put in LB's doghouse for not performing well in practice. I predicted Ammo would not meet LB's standards for D and his conditioning is still below par. Maybe he was just having an issue with his diabetes and they rested him. Clearly LB likes Dudley.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

From that Yahoo link: Charlotte F Sean May, who missed all of last season after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee, scored six points in 12 minutes. “He didn’t do anything for nine months,” Brown said. “He’s way, way behind.”

We will have a new PF before the start of the regular season. Not sure it'll be a game changer, but something is going to happen.

I'm really curious what is happening with JerMareo. I really thought he is better than Hollins but if he regressed on Ryan's level he could be cut even before Hollins (we have 3 centers and at least 4 power forwards including A.Brown)

Better effort, same result.

I would love to see Morrison traded. I always want the best for any player on a team that I follow..but lets be honest. I just don't it will happen.

I'm really starting to get worried that the Bobcats will sign someone like Malik Rose or whoever once they get waived. Brown had a strange fascination with Malik when they were both Knicks. I only know this because there were many threads about this on the Knicks board during that time.
