Our first unit is much more methodical but I think he'd do well in our up-tempo second unit that currently lacks defense in the backcourt. Our main guys (Sergio, Rudy) are much better in zone, how does Wallace do in a zone? Does that enable him to roam better?
You've pretty much described how most would like to see him play here. If he's played as a 30min 6th man it would go a long way to protecting his body by not logging huge continual mins - so you might get more bang for your buck with his energy and drive off the bench in your 2nd unit. In saying that, he is still a great starter and of starter quality, there is just a lot of merit to the idea of him playing a role like Manu for eg.
He's works best in the zone by far. While he is a pretty good on ball defender, it's his help D that sets him apart. Playing zone allows him to play the passing lanes and pick off steals plus being able to cheat off his man to block shots on the weak side is what he does best and is what really stands out.
Of the many ideas floating around when it comes to trading Crash, and most I HATE, the Blake/Frye/Outlaw for Crash one is a deal I would be ok with.
