I would say the Nets have an obvious plan... clear cap space for 2010 to lure LBJ, while sitting on one star (Harris) and a bunch of young players with potential.
This is contrasted with the Bobcats, who sit on 3 above-average players and a crew of misfits and failures. I think MillerTime's point is exactly correct... what IS our plan to contention? Hope somebody gets better? Win the lottery from the 9th spot?
I think the plans are simple... 1) Blow the team up with trades, 2) wait another season and hope Larry Brown whips this talent into a contender.

Devin Harris is a star and Swish and Crash just above average?

Then we keep him. Plain and simple. He's worth a helluva lot more to us than apparently people like you value him, so we keep him. Whether he's playing PF or SF, he's producing at a much higher level than most of that crap you wouldn't want to trade us anyway, so it's a pretty simple solution.
How is that plan working for you? Are you guys really going anywhere with Wallace? Keeping him isnt the answer, I dont want to sound like a hater but your franchise needs a shakeup, you guys are stuck in the half rebuilding half contending mode that gets you no where in this league.
Huh? Are the Nets going anywhere with their stuff? Boone? Swift? Swift Jr? Those are place holders or backups...nothing more. How many 8 pt a game guys does a team need?[/quote]
Did I once say say I am a Nets fan? I follow the team closely but look at my name and where Im from, Im a Pacer fan.
I would talk crap about the Nets, at least they have a plan to become a contender in two years what do you guys have? Not to mention even they have a better record then this team. You are the laughing stock of the NBA and the punch line to many jokes. How about you have a .500 season once in your existence before you start calling out other teams?

Anyone else finding it hilarious that a Pacers fan and a Warriors fan are fighting about the Bobcats on a Bobcats board?

After last season, we were something like two wins behind Orlando from having the best record of any expansion team in their first four seasons, during the modern expansion era. So, they must be doing something right. I guess we should be ashamed that we aren't a championship contender after four years of existence.

I would rather have Harris than any individual player on our team except perhaps Okafor. In Dallas he was the best defending PG in the league, and while he's probably not doing that so far with the Nets, he's made up for it by becoming one of the best offensive PGs. Right now he sure looks like a star...
Regardless, our goal as a team has to move beyond doing the best an expansion team ever has, and on to trying to win a championship. It's not so much that we aren't right now, it's that we don't seem to have any kind of plan to do so. As I said already, right now it looks like the plan is cross our fingers and hope we have enough talent already, or that we win the lotto. It would be pretty incredible for that to turn out to be the case.

Like that plan is any worse than "trade away your good players for crap and hope you win the LeBron sweepstakes."
We have at least three good, young players that could start on a playoff caliber team. The answer isn't to trade them away, or start from scratch again; the answer is to build around them and continue to add talented players.

Yes! Thank you, it's about time that somebody has believed in our young guys. I know other people on the board do too, I just don't know any of them lol. DJ, Dudley, Ammo, Jinx, Oak is in his mid 20's, if our team develops as it should we will be contenders - mark my words. But that's a big if.

I watched some of the Raps Vs Nets last night and again on replay today and thought that Williams was very unimpressive.
