Who Will Be The First Ex-Bobcat?

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Fri Dec 5, 2008 4:13 pm

Not who we should trade, not who we should trade them for, but who you think will be the 1st ex-Bobcat?

I guess it would be naive to think they are all going to stick around forever!!

I go w/ Ray. We aren't going to want another 5yr contract on our books. Also, teams are always looking for PG help so he will be in more demand than just about everyone else on this list.

I don't want him gone but someone needs to be the odd man out for us to get some PF help

I went with Ray as well, but I think it will be a S&T over the summer because like you said FFP, we wont want to pay what his agent is asking.

I agree it will be a S&T with Ray. I think if May keeps getting better this season, we will do no trades by the trade deadline. Maybe fill that 15th spot with a FA signing. I think if we slip into the #8 spot of the Playoffs, the S&T may be for a player and a 2009 draft pick as we will have lost our 1st due to the Ajinca pick. Just a possibility.

Felton - S&T. I see some problems with that line of thinking. Unless you guys are thinking he'll warrant more than the full MLE he can just go out and get an offer from any of 30 teams. We can certainly offer a S&T but no team would want to give value up (unless it's paired with a gosh awful contract) as they can just sign him outright.

I REALLY don't think he'd get more than that. Even if he could get say 7 million...wouldn't he rather be on a contender for 1 million less?

Granted that could still make him the "first "ex Bobcat".

I voted for Ammo; he's the bench guy and I'm guessing we'll pair him with someone like Nazr to get back a vet or two and get out of a bad contract.

I voted Wallace to be the first Bobcat to go, as much as I'd hate to see it happen, I still think that he'll be traded before the season ends. Though I'm not really expecting Felton and Morrison to be the our team next season either.

I chose Gerald. One of the axioms I was aware of was "You can't get anybody to trade a big for a point guard". Well, I don't think Ray will net us a power forward (a good one anyway) by himself. If we really want a top flight guy, it may take Gerald PLUS Ray to shake one loose.

That would be a hard pill to swallow, but there is no point in doing something like that UNLESS
A- We are within striking distance of the # 8 seed at trade deadline.
B- Augustin hasn't hit the rookie "wall", and a servicable PG is coming back in the trade.
C- That PF that's coming back to us is signed for 2-3 years.
D- And he'd better be a "Good Chemistry" type of player- Someone who will blend in with the team-not someone who dances to his own drumbeat.

Gerald has the type of game that the teams with the good power forwards we would like would covet. And, if it came down to trading Gerald, I would still consider him a Lifetime Bobcat even if he was on another team. And, I think he would understand why it was him (if it came down to him being the traded one). I perceive that we the fans would be the ones with the problem... the what could have beens.
In loving memory of Barbara Hickman Taylor 07/20/1955-11/27/2010. Rest in Peace Sweet Lady!

I went with Wallace, I think we'll see a trade pulled off before the deadline to help land us a PF.

I voted Morrison because Oklahoma City has been hitting me up to make them Game Threads this year.
