Re: Jason Richardson and Jared Dudley Appreciation Thread
I'm glad someone finally gets the point. And with the amount of fans that this move could cost the organization, 37-wins is even less acceptable. They traded away two great personality, great character guys, one of which was arguably our best player, for what amounts to two role players.
If they don't seriously challenge for the 8th seed this year, this has all been a massive failure. All it would have done is to disillusion even more fans, at the sake of a couple more meaningless wins, which will not bring anyone back into the fold. Fewer fans, fewer ping pong balls, and a lowered ceiling -- all for a small handful of more wins? That's pointless. This all has to result in a serious playoff run to come close to paying off, or hell, maybe even breaking even.
They are just digging a bigger hole for themselves.

i cant really argue with any of that. i am more concerned about fan apathy, the franchise losing money and us furthering our rep as a complete joke of a franchise than our on court product right now. i fear this move just set us back in that regard (and i didnt think it was possible to go backwards).
unless there is a series of follow-up moves coming, this move wont change us more than +/- 5 games in either direction. and assuming there is a series of follow-up moves would mean i believe that higgins and co are capable of planning two moves ahead (which i dont). every move we've made since higgins came on board has been reactionary or simply appeasing an unhappy coach.

Slam and I were plotting to get Swish in here 2 months before we traded for him. His heart, professionalism and work ethic...not to mention his great joking personality...made him a stellar choice for our first borderline all star. I was really hoping he'd break us into All Star Weekend as our first Bobcat...just wasn't meant to be.
I'm ecstatic he finally gets to play on a contender with other stars. He deserves it.
My favorite pic of Swish as a Bobcat:

I stopped watching ACC ball a couple years back so I knew nothing of Duds, but he was a very pleasant surprise (Jordan's 1st "hit" in the draft). I met him at the Raleigh Caravan his rookie year and he was a great guy. He signed my son's shirt and instantly became his favorite player...he didn't take moving him very well. He's a class act, and like with Swish I'm very happy he's going to get a chance to win.
Good luck to them both.
