The allure of the bobcats?

Something is happening of late - I am really beginning to like the Bobcats. I hate their cheezy uniforms, i haven't seen so much orange outside of Netherlands. I have no particular affinity for the Southern United States, or Charlotte. I was never really a fan of the Charlotte Hornets, didn't really ever like Zo' Mourning, Bobby Phils, or LJ. But strangely, I really like the Bobcats this year (even more now that they got rid of Richardson).

I take every opportunity I can to watch the Cat's online (they are not really on TV a lot here - as you can imagine, being a lottery team forever can't help you get publicity).

I like what's going on here, the roster is full of good young players. DJ Augustin was a favorite prospect of mine last year, and I really like the way he is developing - personally, I am surprised at how well he's done already, given his size. Raymond Felton always seemed like something of a wasted pick to me, but from what i've seen he's actually become a solid player, and I enjoy watching him get better. Okafor never gets his due, and being a Huskies fan, he is one of the most alluring players for me. I really like Jared Dudley ( ), followed him since BC. And Morrison is kind of a ancient greek Tragic comedy unfolding before our eyes. Sean May is great when he can keep his fat ass on the court - it's fun to watch him fluctuate between looking like a bust or star in the making... i like the hard like Brown has taken with his conditioning.

I think the biggest reason I am becoming a follower of the Bobcats is Larry Brown. I think he's dedicated to turning around the franchise. You guys have been a doormat for the rest of the league too long - even though MJ may seem inept in the FO, the biggest thing he could have done for you was bringing in a winning, respect coach with a track record and a vision. Although i'm not so hot on Diaw and Bell, I think they will fit in quite well with what Brown is going to do in Charlotte. He is the going to completely revolutionize the culture of losing that has been so deeply ingrained. Larry Brown is the only coach who can possibly get the most out of a guy like Sean May.

Just wanted to let you know, that even though all seems lost and horrible (i've followed your forum for a bit now), from an outsider I actually really like what you guys have going on. The Larry Brown Era has won you guys at least one more fan.

What's funny is, after four seasons, the Bobcats were the second-most successful expansion team in the modern expansion era. We were actually at the top of that list for awhile. If it wasn't for Jodan coming in and booting everyone out that helped accomplish that, we would have easily held that title after four years. Yet everyone thinks "we suck."

What's worse is, the more we get away from those sorts of things that led us to be one of the most successful expansion team in recent times, the more we suck, yet the more people say we are on the right track.

I'm glad Larry Brown is bringing in fans, maybe it will make up for the fans he is causing to leave. Watching what he and Jordan are doing to the roster, it won't take just winning 37 games to bring in the fans, it will take much more than that, something I don't know if they are capable of with this current roster. The team will have to go above and beyond anything they've ever done to bring in the fans now, because so many are disillusioned with the direction this team has been going since Jordan came aboard. If Diaw and Bell come in and basically produce the same amount of wins that Richardson and Dudley would have, that is a loss for the team. For a team that is struggling to attract fans, trading away two personable players, one of which is one of the best players on the team, for what looks like role players, is not a smart idea. If fans wouldn't tolerate a 30-something win team with Richardson, they damn sure won't accept it from Diaw and Bell.

What most of the posters don't seem or want to understand that this is not the finished product. People are slaming LB and these guys haven't even been in uniform yet. This guy is a HOF coach and knows what it takes to turn a franchise around. He's done it before.This guy made the Clippers a playoff team! LB wants guys that are going to play hard and play the right way. When he gets his team in place, they will win. Not only that, but their style of winning will bring fans because it will be built on hustle and defense. Fans everywhere love teams that give 100% and win. But if you expect it to happen tomorrow, you will be disappointed.

I would not be more surprised by the OP and its timing if he had come down from Mars to declare himself a Bobcat fan.

The question is whether or not he will create that incredible masterpiece before he gets bored and decides to leave, or before he gets run off.

I don't have faith that he will stick around long enough to mold this team into what he believes will be a winner.

And that would mean he would leave another disaster of a team in his wake.

If that happens, we would have been better off never hiring him to begin with.

Seriously, this is an exciting time...we've finally brought in a real coach and are trying to implement an honest to God system. I think LB's going to break a few eggs but I feel sure this team will be better for it in the end.

So far as losing fans I think it'll be hard to top their totally inept TV blockout of pretty much all of North and South Carolina, mainly those with satellites. That takes out a big majority of all sports bars and the casual sports fan that is open to jumping on any bandwagon if they like what they see.

I believe LB now has gotten thru to MJ/RH/BJ. One more trade and you will see a Bigger and Better TEAM on the floor. I believe Monday is the day and Either Wallace,Morrison,Carroll and/or Okafore, and/or Felton and /or Hollins is gone. This could be a Multi player deal or a one fer one. I think Portland and/or Chicago and/or Toronto may be the players in this deal.
Stay Tuned and watch the wires. By Christmas you will see a defferent team on the floor.
