Warriors wouldn't do Felton deal

While the Warriors' reported interest in Ray Felton makes sense on some levels, it doesn't make sense to the Warriors.

This from a person with direct knowledge of the team's thinking: Golden State would not trade a 6-10 forward with huge upside for a point guard. And it doesn't matter whether the 6-10 forward's name is Anthony Randolph or Brandan Wright. The Warriors "wouldn't even consider that in any way, shape or form," the person said.

The thinking is this: The Warriors just made a trade for a combo guard (Jamal Crawford), and if they're trading anybody, it would be an established veteran whose upside is known. Randolph and Wright both have played sporadically, and the Warriors need to see what they are -- especially Randolph, who is only 19.

Once Monta Ellis comes back from an offseason ankle injury, the team's strategy is to see who fits with Ellis rather than start trading for other players -- especially another guard -- and see if Ellis fits with them.

The one caveat when it comes to the Warriors is that nobody is clear on who is making the decisions. Team president Robert Rowell has taken on more personnel authority, and coach Don Nelson has been known to engage in a trade discussion or two. And remember who coaches the Charlotte Bobcats? Larry Brown, who got fired by the Knicks, in part, for agreeing to trades behind team president Isiah Thomas' back.

It is a tangled web being woven in the Bay area, but for now, Felton doesn't appear likely to be ensnared in it.

Felton's shooting 39.8% this season and is under 40% for his career. No way we give up 2 let alone 1 potential star big for him. The only possibility I see is a Maggette + Wright for Wallace deal. If you want to add some additional players to move Felton to us (and we move Williams back) then I suggest starting from there.

Maggette + Wright + Azebuike + Williams for Wallace + Felton + Brown (optional, works either way).

Honestly none of it makes a whole lot of sence in some ways. Your right it was dumb to draft a pg but I am assuming the feeling was get the best player available and even though DJ is my favorite Cat Brook might have been better. I think if they tried to get Cory LB would stop the trade. Cory is horrible. People thought Kobe was selfish? That man is selfish. He is the anti LB player.
As for Wright and Randolph it was basically the same thing. Randolph must have been drafted because he was the best player there according to GS because there is no way they give Jackson a bunch of money and Cory and plan to play Randolph at the 3 unless there gonna start playing with 6 players on the floor.

All of this seems moot because according to a source the trade rumor is b.s.

As for the guy who said shut up about Wallace he is completely right and not being a homer. Wallace is a good scorer and excellent defender a guy that does everything and unless there getting something really good shouldn't be traded.

I would assume he is off the block after the JR trade. Wallace is Marion without sensitive personility.
He should stay.
They should build around DJ, Okufor and Wallace. Diaw I like but its him or Wallace because there is just not enough offense to not get a scorer. Also I hate Bell becaause Brown will convience the FO to keep him and he is just a backup or should be and LB will probably keep him as a starter.

Crash is the best player we got on our team,he plays def, rebs, and scores and with a heavy heart had 22and 9 da first game back and a double -double the next time out. If this trade does go down i would prefer randolph, for a simple reason we have no reliable back-up for gforce, which randolph could provide.

I think most of us would say we want Crash to stay, but when you see Crash for ( fill in the blank) rumors everywhere since the draft, its hard to think that he will still be here past the trade deadline. I for one would like to see them move Morrison or Carrol.

I like Felton. On a better team with better shooters he would be a real weapon. His weaknesses are shooting and sometimes struggling to finish at the rim because he has a tendency to force contact instead of just trying to make the shot.

If the Cats trade him they are going to desperately need guard play. Trading for Wright is a decent idea but again it makes CHA a bad shooting team and gives up the main ball handler. If you trade Felton for Wright I assume you better have something with Wallace lined up for a scoring guard.

And if you trade Wallace, you have to unload at least one of Nazr's, Morrison's, or Carroll's contract on someone.

IDK, I like change and getting younger, but it's tough to tell what direction the Bobcats are headed right now.

Would that not be the same as saying "and the fact you drafted your SF of the future when you just poured a crazy amount of money into Maggette long term says everything you need to know about your SF spot"?

Sounds like Bernie Bickerstaff syndrome. He felt there were no positions, just guards and forwards, bigs and littles.

Well first off hiring Bernie was insane and that theory is even worse. What about 2 positions on the court or on the bench. So stupid.
See he doesn't know this because it's most important in the playoffs but matchups are very important and you need positions for that.

Sources claiming the Warriors are ABSOLUTELY not interested in trading for Felton, and also deny they are shopping wither Wright or Randolph.

I think they are talking about options, but don't like the leaks. I seriously doubt Felton gets done with this team however.

Wonder if the Blazers still become our ultiumate trading partner.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Maybe it's not dead in the water after all?

Nellie told Randolph to tell his agent to look for a trade because it wasn't "working" for him in Golden State?

Our GM is MJ,I´m sure that,if the trade goes on would be something like this

Felton+Crash - Randolph/Maggete

I ´d be happy if we get Azubuike,I love his play! Not the same feeling with Maggete, not personal, just a five year conract xD

LB is gonna love Maggette's defense. A Felton+Crash for Randolph+Maggette seems to be in favor of the Warriors.....they get 2 Starting Quality Players for a Rookie ( with Potential ) and a Starter that is injury prone.

I posted it as a bad trade xD,but I think that if we could get one of tehir sg (To match salaries) won´t be so bad.

Dj-Azubuike-Maggette-Diaw-Okafor sounds good for me. Then we should draft a backup pg and...next year playoff ^^

Speculation from beat writer Matt Steinmetz is that talks would be more along the lines of Randolph-Maggette for Felton-Wallace. In other words, Randolph is the price for unloading Maggette.

Personally I hope Maggette gets traded to some team that I don't like, rather than the Cats.

^ Maybe Floppy, but I have to think they'd bring in no one that LB would despise...and I can think of few that he'd hate worse than Maggette. One of the big reasons you guys want to ditch him is that he won't share the ball and that's what LB is all about.

If it got beyond the intial call I doubt Maggette would still be in the conversation.

I think LB is horrible as a gm which he always plays when he is coaching a team but that is actually what I like about him being here because he would keep MJ from making that Cory deal.
MJ NEEDS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!
If your not gonna fire MJ because we do need some kind of name recognition or his ability to get guys like Brown or the hope that some young guard will wanna learn from him and come here then at least get Isiah to draft for us. If we didn't draft DJ we would officially be up there with Kevin Mchale as the worst drafters in history and it's only been 4 years.
