I was actually thinking of it from a different angle.

LB loves Bell so much that he'll want to do what ever he can to get him a ring - which would mean influencing the FO to trade him to a contender when the time is right.

But I can very easily see it your way too.

The surprising thing about this trade is I figured it would have been Felton added and Barbosa added. That would have made more sence even if they kept Bell.

^ Barbosa doesn't strike me as a LB type of player. I also think Bell being a vet (and defensive minded) made him desirable in LB's eyes.

It doesn't matter if Bell is a LB type player because Bell is clearly not part of the future. It's one thing to get young LB type players but I don't see Bell being on the Cats to long I hope.
I hope you guys are right and he is traded to a playoff team but a playoff team that doesn't play the Lakers. I hate when Kobe plays Bell.
Barbosa is not a typical LB player but you limit yourself if you only go hard nose defensive tough minded guys. I can't think of any LB type players that he has coached that have been allstars besides AI and he didn't even like AI.
There needs to be a limit on LB's power.

not going to look up all the exact years and who made it when but here's some the all-star talent he has coached (obviously not all made it under larry, but many did)

nuggets - david thompson, george mcinnis, dan issel, bobby jones
nets - buck williams, otis birdsong
clippers - danny manning, mark jackson
spurs - david robinson, alvin robertson, terry cummings, sean elliot, mo cheeks
pacers - reggie miller, rik smits, dale davis, mark jackson, byron scott, antonio davis, ricky pierce
sixers - iverson, mutombo, derrick coleman, jerry stackhouse, tyron hill
pistons - billups, hamilton, wallace, sheed
knicks - marbury

dude has coached a lot of great players

Pistons don't count and you know why. He walked into a great defensive situation. As for the Sixers list most of those guys were role players by the time they got there except AI who was the only player he didn't like.
As for the list before Im just glad im old to know who thos guys are. You actually gave a Bobby Jones reference. I never thought I would see that here. There are so many reasons that list proves my point. Back then in the 30's I mean the 80's and 90's almost all players were LB players.
Marbury he also hated and they didn't do that well together.

A list like that of role players I can say with any coach. I mean Scott at the age he was, and Ricky Pierce? It's completely redicoulus.

You can take a coach and put him on the 5 worst teams in history and make a list.

The consensus from Suns fans is that this is one of the most win-win trades that has happened in quite a long time. Both teams have improved since the trade.

I beg to differ Dexmor. Marbury has been quoted as saying he enjoyed playing for Brown, and Brown has said he enjoyed coaching Marbury. The whole New York debacle for Brown was just that, a debacle. It didnt matter who got along, and who might have been great friends before hand, because at the end of the day It was just a huge mess with too much finger pointing.

I can believe that.
Marbury is a good player.
