dj - out of sight, out of mind

Post#1 » by fatlever » Wed Jan 21, 2009 4:37 am

any chance his recent injuries keep him out of the rookie game? we all know how little pub our players get anyway, put one on the bench for two weeks with an injury and its like we've shipped them to peru for the year.

mayo
rose
westbrook
gordon
chalmers

all having good seasons at guard... and more importantly, all healthy leading up to decision time.

I don't think he was going to make it anyway so yeah, I pretty much agree with ya.

I agree with Chabber. With Rose, Mayo and Westbook in front of him I doubt he was ever going to make it.

What? Of course he was gonna make it and still might if he gets in some good games. He has played better then Gorden and who knows Rose and Mayo might be in the big game.

There are only 9 players on the rookie team and I doubt they fill up 3 of them with point guards.

Depending on how many guards they take, he might not deserve it. Rose, Mayo, and Westbrook have been a bit better than DJ in my mind.

I think 3 PGs is reasonable when two of them are guys like Rose or Westbrook who can play some SG. The real problem is the lack of SFs, but there just aren't any deserving.

The mandatory players to include (to me) are Rose, Mayo, Beasley, Gasol, and Lopez (a nice starting 5), and then on the bench it'll probably be Love, Westbrook, Gordon, and Fernandez. DJ could definitely have taken Gordon or Fernandez's spot, but missing the games really is going to kill his chances.

DJ isn't injured, MGMT is holding him back to protect their investment, he's just too cool for the game sometimes. DJ shoots us into the majority of the games he's in and when his shot is off it's because his loser teammates won't get him the rock when he's open and/or are subconsciously affecting his mojo because they hate his swag. He's being held back by Felton. He makes awesome passes, but sometimes he makes TOs because he has Felton breathing down his neck all of the time and knows LB will yank him so he's nervous. [/blatant Feltonism mock]

9 roster spots+ Oden + 8 guys taken ahead of DJ + Bobcats= no DJ

Bonus points for using "Mojo" and "swag." I forgot about Oden... he's a lock to be chosen since he's terrible but famous.

Brook Lopez. Please we should never ever talk about Brook Lopez on this board. At least for not a couple years.

Team needs a Center, Brook Lopez is still on the board, DJ gets taken....Yeah that seems right for this franchise.

DJ would have to compete with Westbrook and Gordon. he'd be borderline for this year's team if he was healthy.

Id take an Okafor, and Diaw front court over a Lopez, and Okafor front court any day of the week. Granted you could make the argument "Well if we drafted Lopez we would still have Richardson".

Oh well, life goes on, if we drafted Lopez Okafor would be getting humiliated out on the perimeter against all these perimeter oriented PF's now a days.

I"m not so sure had this taken Lopez, it would've blocked the Richardson trade.

They would have probably had a more busy weekend.

Lopez would have been taken at 9. George Hill or, most likely, Mario Chalmers with the later pick.

I still think the Richardson trade happens, and Gerald Wallace would probably have been traded for a couple players rather then a straight one for one.
