Crash Over Reacting?

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Tue Jan 20, 2009 8:40 pm

Anyone else notice that this season anytime anyone touches Crash and he ends up on the deck he springs up like he's about to stab them in the throat?

I know that he has taken some hard hits over the years (the Granger one still makes me cringe) but he needs to cool it a little IMO.

Thoughts?

He got laid out by Duncan the play before on the other end of the floor on defense. Then he ran into him on offense and got up and came at him. The reaction was more for the first play and not what had just occurred. I believe the first play by Duncan was unintentional but he caught Crash in the head or neck. I couldn't really tell.

Edit: just rewatched it and it looks like Duncan stuck his arm out just enough knock him off balance but it ended up clotheslineing him. Duncan quickly pulled his arm back in as not to get caught and this is where Manu knocks down his second 3 in the last 4 minutes.

I don't mean just yesterday's game, but in general. He's often very chippy and gets into a little push and shove when somone comes into contact with him.

In that case then no it doesn't bother me. As long as he doesn't throw an unwarranted punch he can act however he wants if he feels he's getting roughed up.

you can definitely tell wallace is reacting to getting knocked down this year. he knows what is at stake if he gets another serious blow to the head.

Along with Brown being one of the most T'd up coaches in the league, I don't mind if the team stands up for itself more often. If Brown is trying to instill a defensive mindset in the players, that would probably be a good thing anyway. People have complained about our players being "nice guys" too often, so I don't see a problem with it. Everyone got riled up in the Boston game, and it seemed to work in our favor.

Unless it becomes excessively hurtful to our team, I don't mind it one bit.

Agreed - but pick and choose. It doesn't have to be every single time. To me, it sort of loses it's impact if you are going to do it every time and it makes it appear like you are doing the "poor me" thing.

compared to some of the other guys in the league I would say he is right on par. Tim Duncan complains about 90% of the calls that go against him. Kobe's right up there, look at all the issues he got into a few years ago, ex. the phantom elbow. Maybe he feels he deserves more respect around the league and from officials.

I'm more concerned about him cleaning up some needless turnovers he seems to commit every game.

I agree, it's about damn time this team showed some bite. Look at the Celtics game. We got in their faces and even drew a T that probably sparked our 4th quarter finish. I love the fact that we're playing that way now.

He is always hitting the floor and getting hit because of the way he plays. It is bound to happen.
Anybody wonder what is gonna happen when his athletism runs out and when will that be? He needs to learn to shoot and learn some better post moves. He has got to stop relying soley on athletism. It's lazy and it shows lack of hard work in the offseason and things like that. He should at least have a go to move and a 35% 3 pointer.

Alot of people cant just practice and make themselves a good shooter. Wallace is what he is, a slasher. He wont ever be an effective three point shooter, thats just the way it is.

LB has to know a guy that can come in and be a shooting coach this offseason. Wallace, Felton and Okafor could all use it, Diaw and DJ have a nice strokes and the rest (especially you raja :D) are what they are and can't be helped.

That's off topic from the thread though. Wallace definitely is being very reactionary to being hit, I can't tell if it's more or less than in the past though. I wouldn't be surprised if it was more. I'll be watching for it, because little things like this go a long way toward developing/diminishing chemistry. A teammate getting psyched and bitching out another player can make you play more physical to get their back or whatever, but obviously can also get so extreme that it's messed up their game because it's so deep in their head.
