Thoughts on coach

Earlier in the season I thought LB was going to have another NY like stint but now I am really loving this guy.

He seems to have more control here and more than likely maneuvered the trades that have taken place. He's brought in proven veterans, not potential stars and the team has greatly benefited.
We are competitive every night, everybody usually plays hard and "the right way."

This team is very fun to watch right now. I know it's still early but so far MJ might have gotten this one right and hopefully LB will stay here for years to come.

LB has come across the perfect mix of kids for him to coach. Hard workers, humble with a thirst for knowledge and a want to get better as a team.

It's been a perfect match.

Considering the rabble he inherited from the Idiot, it's pretty amazing that he's been able to do what he has done so quickly and we are seeing the results already.

Pity our record at the end of the season due to a slow start will probably put him out of the CoY award race - because so far he is deserving of it considering where we were and where we are now.

i know we caught the suns on a bad night, but wow, i was shocked to see how little energy that team had. no fight, no effort, made no changes. sad. they just looked old and slow, like the heat looked that year the hornets destroyed them in 3 games in the playoffs.... old and slow. watch nash walk up the court only to dump the ball into shaq and then stand there watching for 15 seconds (while amare just stands and watches) is like watching a cardinals run the ball 15 straight times for 2.5 yards per carry while fitz and boldin just stand around watching.

LB has always been my favorite coach ever. I admire what he's done in his career building teams up and making them better more than I do the Pat Riley's and Phil Jacksons.

Yeah fats. It really is sad, they looked pitiful and tired last night. Nash even looked like he didn't care. Steve Kerr killed the Phoenix Suns as we knew them. Jackass.

I'm a big Larry Brown fan and even I was a bit skeptical at the beginning of the season. To be honest after the NY debacle I thought maybe it was time for Larry to hang it up.

But he is totally proving me wrong. The Diaw/Bell trade is turning out to be very good and I'm so impressed how Wallace, Felton, Okafor and the rest of the starters have raised their game. The Bobcats are one of the fun teams to watch these days. Larry and MJ need to improve the depth on the bench but it's very impressive to see the turnaround since the beginning of the season. You can see the confidence go up each week with this team.

Michael Jordan is hardly ever present, where Isiah Thomas was always there like that kid in school that would never go away. Except this kid actually had some power. Plus the Knicks were a f888ing mess where the Bobcats just needed some direction and a minor overhaul.

Look up the Knicks roster. Its 2005-06. Its horrid. Their leading rebounder was Eddy Curry, followed by Channing Frye. Take a moment to soak that in. Curry, then Frye. Leading rebounders?
Marbury and Crawford formed their backcourt. Lee wasn't the talent that he is now.

Don't get me wrong, Larry isn't unaccountable. 5 words; Malik Rose started 35 games. There also wasn't a set starting lineup, although that would not have fixed it.

And as if they didn't have enough offensive talent and lack defensive skill, they would trade for Steve Francis and Jalen Rose in season.

But here is the all out killer for a team with so many ballhandlers;

The Knicks averaged 17.9 assists per game and gave up 17.7 turnovers per game.
Their opponets averaged 21.3 assists and 14.1 turnovers.

A good chunk of the team getting about 1:1 is one thing, when you do that as a team...you should be ashamed.

^Actually when LB didn't get his way early in the season he went into full tank mode. We even won 6 straight games when he decided to put out our best lineup that many had been calling for:

Starters: Steph/Nate/Lee/ADavis/Curry

Bench: Crawford/Q/Rose/Taylor/Frye

When Steph got injured in the Minny game, he went back and begged for more trades Jalen then Stevie, while giving up Ariza.

Your recovery is due to the fact that MJ has let him make his LB GM moves. If that hadn't happened he wouldn't have made the effort. Trust that in the next month or off-season, he will be orchestrating more trades.

His coaching has never been the problem, only his meddlesome ways in how he deals with the front office.

First of all I have a hard time MJ is the real gm and not just an attempt to get fans and good pr although no proffesional would make the draft picks he has made and he is clearly not a profesional judging on his terrible picks so maybe MJ is really the gm. If so they need to change that but he did make the right move with the Larry Brown hiring but I would say that was more Larry Brown choosing he wants to coach here then MJ going out and finding a good coach.

As for LB himself I don't know why you would think he should hang it up. Coaches aren't like players were they hit 35 and just don't have it anymore.

As for the Knicks there is no making excuses for him. I don't know if it was the pressure of NY weighing down on him with the expections or him being fustrated but he did a terrible job. He was stubborn and stupid on the Knicks. Choosing starting lineups and who he was gonna play judging on what state they were in was not cute and he was stupid. He Flipped flopped to much complained and completely underachived. He could have done much better.

Larry Brown is a great coach now but be prepared it could go bad. He often wants to make stupid draft choices and terrible trades. He doesn't seem to like players who are young and athletic. The only positive is that our FO is so bad that he might actually be better then them so they might let him make moves.

Even if he is happy he will still move on shortly. He can't stay at one place for long.
He is the perfect coach for us because he is the biggest name coach who was avialable, he is a teaching coach and our players need teaching so if he teaches them, gets them to play the right way and then moves on I won't be upset because at least we had him for to show them how to win.
Just know he isn't here to stay one way or another.

Also if they keep Felton and LB makes Felton a Larry Brown player like he did with Billups then Larry Brown should be the mayor of Charlotte.

LB loves young and athletic players. Carroll and Morrison not getting much PT is no coincidence. If anything, LB's infactuation with athletic players is too much.
