OT: What do you guys think of the changes at WFNZ.

Post#1 » by nfcchamp2004 » Mon Jan 26, 2009 7:03 pm

btw Gary Williams is leaving WFNZ for Sirius/XM's Mad Dog Radio.

The new schedule is
6-10 AM: MAC ATTACK with Celania
10-11: MAC, Celania, Buckner, Frank Garcia
11-3: Frank Garcia and Brentson Buckner
3-7: Packman

IMO the only knowledgeable and levelheaded talk on the Bobcats and the Charlotte sports scene on the station is now gone with Gary out. The station and the sports talk scene in Charlotte took a big hit. Or does anybody even care about FNZ anymore.

that sucks. gary and jim have great chemistry.... plus gary knows his stuff. will mark still be on the morning show with mac and jim?

what is mad dog radio? this might be the move that pushes me to get sirius.

I used to listen to the morning sports page everyday before work, it was the only listenable show at the end there. "Mac" in particular is sickening to listen to, it's like in any moment he is trying to think of the most stereotypical, obvious, conventional wisdom thing to say. Pac isn't much better.

I miss listening to Sandy Penner...

I am curious to see how Gary and MadDog work. Does anyone know the details? Is it really just the two of them? Russo is painful but I'd tolerate him if Gary was there.

Mark and Tom will produce Frank and Bucks show in the afternoon. Meanwhile the mid day crew goes to the morning plus Celania. I agree Mark, Jim and Gary had great chemistry and i'm really gonna miss that show. Mad Dog Radio is a sports talk station on Sirius/XM Radio. Chris "Mad Dog" Russo formerly of the Mike and the Mad Dog Show on WFAN in NYC is the star of the station. Gary will be doing the morning show.

I don't mind the Mac Attack, but thats probably because I am 21 and not 35 pushing 40 like fatz.

I drive to Huntersville from Boone a lot, and I'm not going to like listening to Frank and Buck from 1-3. I mean, they are knowledgeable, but there is no humor factor there. Mac is better suited for that spot, but they are taking a jump in listeners by moving the morning spot, so it was a no brainier.

I still listen to WFNZ a lot because I get it on my ipod now, plus im on the road a lot driving back and forth to Huntersville.

WFNZ sucks. Next week it will finally come off my programmed buttons.

I gave up FNZ years ago. My life is less stressful as a result. :)

Packman just annoys the living crud out of me.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

It has nothing to do with lack of Bobcat talk. I just prefer not to listen to fools. Same reason I don't watch ESPN's shows or get involved in dumb arguments on boards. Give me information and analysis with some substance and without a large amount of bias or it's not worth my time. I'll find it somewhere else.
