You just know it would have been some BS low ball offer.

Glad we knocked the Blazers back. We need Crash more than he needs us.

Update within the hour says the Blazers are trying to sweeten the deal to get Crash. We will have to see if they sweeten it enough. **They must have been watching the game tonight!!

I think i'd be sick if we traded Crash for Raef LaFrentz

at the very least they'd have to include Batum. Although I wouldn't want to lose Crash without getting something comparable.

I really dont get this trade. The luxury tax everyone keeps talking about is around 71 million. Right now we are around 62 million. I hope its not purely financial but a purely basketball move instead.

Watching the game tonight, the starters seem to have lost some chemistry since the injuries and trades. This team needs more time to get used to each other.

Also watching Wallace, he's never going to quit going 100% on each possession. Maybe his inability to keep himself injury free has something to do with him being on the trading block.

:noway: :nonono: :nonono: :meditate: :meditate: :meditate: Heres "The Facts"
The trade as structured now to Portland is pure financial and as said on another post"sucks"

Nazr should definirely be included with Wallace for Lafrenz, Batum and Fernandez(or first round pick)
If Portland says no then wait until draft day and offer Wallace for a Veteran 2 package plus 1st round draft pick from somebody else..

As I have said all along, GW is a great player/great guy off court, but gives up his body too much which will eventually permanently end his career unless he limits his prime time dunks, changes his game from outside and comes off bench as 6th man for 30-35 minutes a night maximum.
OUR best Starting lineup is: TRY THIS LARRY
dj or felton point
felton or bell 2 (try Martin at 2 off bench similar to what you did with carroll)
romanvich with wallace splits time off bench 3
diaw with howard and romanvich backup at 4
okafor with diop backup 5( if playing against Big front line try Diop at 4 , nazr at 5 and diaw at 3??)

DO NOT TRADE FELTON/ SIGN HIM--7 million year 5 years--Hes our 4th quarter closer and has proven it..

History says Pritchard and the Blazers work every angle hard, see if anything is good enough, and typically walk away without making a deadline deal. I admire him for that, and clearly the many rumors regarding Portland are evidence of this.

I think they are serious in their pursuit of a veteran SF, because it's a position of relative weakness, and they need a vet to help bring along the youngsters. The salary relief will still help the Blazers, but they'd prefer a quality SF like Crash. I can understand their unwillingness to take Nazi. Maybe we sweeten the pot on both sides: Try this last minute deal!

Incoming Players
Sergio Rodriguez 6-3 PG, Rudy Fernandez 6-6 SG, Nicolas Batum 6-8 SF, Raef LaFrentz 6-11 PF / C
Outgoing Players
D.J. Augustin 6-0 PG, Nazr Mohammed 6-10 C, Gerald Wallace 6-7 SG / SF

Crash proves his worth on our team, but he is "Crash" and I'm starting to wonder how long he's gonna last. DJ has some very electric games, but I continue to worry about his defense against bigger 1's. If we are going to live or die with Felts, DJ is a luzury but not a necessity. Shedding salary with Nazi and Crash's deals will help us. No we're not players in 2010, but it could allow us to be a player in this off-season and give us breathing room to sign Felts. Not sure how good Batum can be, but he's got time to grow since Vlad is so RAD! Rudy would give us a VERY interesting player at the 2...he has potential to be a quality starter but needs to improve his shooting and defense. At the very least he improves our bench depth, while Sergio auditions with Sean for the back-up PG role.

Would I pull the trigger on this deal if I were GM? Still not sure, but it might be the best offer we'd get from the Blazers. I'd also be tempted to ask for Bayless in place of Fernandez but he seems off limits.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

^ So the only difference from what we're rumored to be asking for is a DJ for Rudy swap?

Not so hot on that idea.

Hell no to that deal. I really don't think Sergio is good at all, nor does Batum + Sergio come anywhere close to what Augustin + Wallace can bring to the team. LaFrentz and Nazr would basically be washes in terms of talent, and I don't even think the idea of his expiring is really all that appealing.

If that's the best we could do then I would HAPPILY stand pat with what we have.

A source close to the Blazers has told Henry Abbott of ESPN that the team will not make any moves prior to Thursday's trade deadline.

Good news for us.

LaFrentz goes from being t"he most valuable tradeable commodity" in the league, back to being a useless bum :( Mohammed, your day in the spotlight is coming up soon!
