15th Roster Spot Watch

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Fri Feb 20, 2009 4:52 pm

Safe to say we'll use it on that big 2 guard who can back up some point that LB wants.

I assume we'll wait to see who falls through the cracks and might be waived. Guys like (big) Marcus Williams and James White from the D might be an option.

Here is the latest:

http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_n ... -spot.html

The Charlotte Bobcats are looking to fill their open 15th roster spot, now that the trade deadline has passed, but nothing is imminent, general manager Rod Higgins said at shootaround Friday.

They're looking for a big guard out of the developmental league who can play both positions. But with the roster as healthy as it's been in months, there's no great sense of urgency to fill that spot.

Yeah, I immediatly thought the same thing:

Hmmm.... seeking a big guard out of the developmental league.

Come on bobcats, selecting a player that meets this criteria shouldnt be rocket science.

James White (25.8 ppg, 5 rbs, 2 assits, 1.2 steals, on 54% shooting, 38% from 3) the top player in the D league who happens to be a large athletic shooting guard got back to business as usual following the allstar break. In his last game a couple days ago, he tallied 35 points on 50% shooting and was 10-11 from the foul line.

And Slam and several others have always been high on Marcus Williams who isnt looking too shabby himself @ 21.4 points, 7 rbs, 4.8 assists, 2 steals on 43% shooting, 31% from 3.

:D      I am really high on James"the flight" White
This team needs a bad dude like this. Think of 6'7" at the 2 guard lighting it up in Time warner arena..
This guy flys like a Butterfly but stings like a Bee and scores from everywhere. He will give us 10-14 points in 15 minutes and give dj and felt rest in the rotation. also could rotate at 1,2 or 3 postions.
Insurance for the rest of season and maybe next year

26 per game on 54% is amazing. Some of you may think that it means nothing because its the D-league, but it does. As a comparison Carrol and Cartier Martin were averaging 20ish on worse shooting before we picked them up.

Pass.

Supposedly Quincey Douby is getting a tryout in front of the Knicks coaches sometime soon. They'll decide whether they want to keep or not. Apparently they already miss the great Anthony Roberson.

Mikki Moore- I wouldn't have minded him coming here if he wasn't for the fact that we're still stuck with Nazr Mohammed.

Mouhamed Sene or Chiekh Samb- NOOOO...When the Thunder/Clippers waive you and you're a young center, you need lots of time to work on your game.

Jawad Williams? Scored 43 the other night. Could play 3 or 4.

I realize you aren't being serious, but Jason Hart is supposedly on his way to Denver.

for the 15th spot; James White, Marcus Williams, or leave the spot open.

Was going to add Stephon Marbury, but we never had a chance. Thats just a shame.

Both Williams and White just keep on burning up the D. They are both SG's with handles. We are craving a SG with handles. How bad can these kids attitudes be that is stopping us from calling them up?

Sign them already!!

No offense to any of the Bling fans, but I would take these two over him.

What about Luther Head?

EDIT: I didn't realize he has been injured for a while now, but he would still be a nice pick up for possibly next season.

Looks like Houston is going to sign James White. The Bobcats really were asleep at the Wheel on this one:

I wouldn't sweat it. Again, if he was so good he'd already be on a team and haven't been rejected so many times. There is a reason he can't get any burn. I think you guys are too caught up in his pre-draft workouts and status, because you all wanted him. Really, is there a difference between Cartier and him?

It was long thought that he had an attitude problem which had been holding him back. Not his talent. It has since been reported that he has matured a lot and has a wonderful attitude now.

White has a better handle and is a better athlete. Plus he has been more efficient in the D as well as a better scorer.

There's always Marcus Williams.
