Carmelo Anthony?
What if Denver put Melo on the block this summer what would you be willing to give up to get him.
Chl:Wallace,Okafor
Den:Carmelo,Martin
We would finally have a franchise player and he would boost our ticketsales,Also he and Jordan are good friends,Melo is signed with Jordan brand, and I think if he comes to Charlotte Jordan would mentor him and make him a better person.Melo would bring us more National televised games and more marketing.I think if we don't make the playoffs this year we should consider this move this summer.I sure Denver would be all for it because they get rid of K-marts contract and get back 2 solid players on offense and defense.Charlotte needs a franchise player and Carmelo would be that player.
pg:Felton,Augustin
sg:Bell
sf:Carmelo,Radmonovic
pf:Diaw,K-mart,May
c:Diop,Muhammed,Ajinca
Then in 2012 go after the hometown boy Chris Paul also another player who is also good friends with Jordan.
Can you imagine Carmelo and Paul on the Bobcats roster.

Well first off your pipe dream of Paul is a bit too much.
Personally I wouldn't do that trade. Okafor is playing nicely alongside Diaw, and I really don't see much reason to move both him and Wallace for Melo who needs to straighten himself out and a beaten down KMart.

I really like Carmelo, but I don't know if he's good enough to merit Okafor AND Wallace. I only want to do a deal involving both of them for a true superstar, and I don't think he is one. It's possible to win a title with Melo as your best player, I think, but only if your #2 and 3 are both really awesome. A list of players that Okafor+Wallace could be in a package for:
LeBron
Kobe
Howard
Wade
Duncan
KG
Bosh
Paul
Yao
Dirk
and then maybe a guy like Durant, in part on potential. I think Melo is on a slightly lower tier, with guys like Devin Harris, Brandon Roy, Danny Granger, etc.
Note, I would give up much MORE than Okafor+Wallace for many guys on that list, in case that wasn't obvious.

KG should be taken off that list.
Hollinger say's Roy is the seventh best player in the nba and I have to agree with him.

I wouldn't either. Garnett has proven he needs other stars around him to win first of all, and #2 how much longer is he going to be dominant?

He no longer is.
Some people put him in a class with TD, which I think is ridiculous.

Kmart is to often injured and Melo is not a 2 way player. I would want a 2 way player as a franchise player. Im thinking our franchise player will end up being Felton. I don't see us making a blockbuster and we can't draft.
That trade was actually lopsided for us losing. Usually trade proposels are unrealistic because the fan of the tea, wants a trade that is not fair for the other team. Even though I don't like this trade it's refreshing.

Re: Carmelo Anthony?
I love Melo's game but hate his attitude. I doubt that trade would happen anyway, especially with Denver being like third in the west.
But it does bring up something that hit me tonight, if we keep winning, how much does the value of the players on this team go up. If we play this good next year we might have two guys on the all star team. I say the core is great, just keep finding pieces to add to put us in the running for a championship.

Re: Carmelo Anthony?
Fair enough on KG... I think that he was absolutely comparable to Tim Duncan in his prime, but that he's falling out of that prime and so I can see why he should be off the list.
As for Brandon Roy, I obviously respect what he can do, but that Blazers team is really good, and I don't know that he's really in the same mold as the other guys on the list.

Re: Carmelo Anthony?
They say that the Pistons team that won the championship was the first team to win it all without a star but having 5 very good players in the starting 5. I disagree with that because Rip and Billups are stars to me.
Now our team is a team with no stars in the starting lineup or team but all 5 of our starters are very good. We should not trade anybody and keep the core and just try and sign a 2 or draft a 2 and gel.
We should make the playoffs but if not this year next year we could be top 4-6 in the east and if we get a steal in the draft or a great signing at the 2 we could be a top 4 team in the East for shizzle.

Re: Carmelo Anthony?
I'm a big Melo fan, so I disqualify myself from being able to rate how much we could win with him. To make the op a little more interesting since it seems consensus that we wouldn't do Wallace AND Okafor for Melo and Martin...
Does it change if it was Nene instead of Kenyon??

Re: Carmelo Anthony?
Melo is too good of a player to be traded for Wallace and Okafor, along with Kmart or Nene. He is a notch or two below LBJ and D Wade.
Although he has had some problems in non basketball situations, he brings enough wins to keep him around. Also he is not at the KG in Minny point in his career where both sides know they aren't going to win a championship with each other. (KG and Minn FO)
I am not discounting the talent of Wallace and Okafor but it would be like the Bobcats trading those two for Andris Biedrins and Monta Ellis. Its not going to help our team at all and it wouldn't help Denver at all.
IF we get a top three pick in the draft then it could happen when you throw in the pick.
Denver is 17 games OVER .500 with Melo as their best player. Charlotte is 7 games Under .500.
Trade two of their best players for two of ours, what real GM would do that for Denver.

Re: Carmelo Anthony?
Anthony is more than a notch below LBJ and Wade. Depends on how big your "notches" are, but Melo is only arguably a top 5 SF (Granger, Durant, LBJ, Pierce, Kirilenko, Butler...), and those two have obvious claims on "best player in the NBA" status.
As for the trade, just compare Anthony and Wallace as the principals. Melo obviously scores more (though less efficiently, that is clearly due to the heavy load), but Wallace equals or surpasses him in rebounding, passing, and defense (help defense is no contest). The margin between the two is not the size of Okafor, let alone Okafor AND a top-3 pick.
I think tossing on Nene would push it too far in the other direction though... he's really good, considerably better than Okafor on the offensive end though worse on the defensive end. KMart is a little bit more plausible, but still probably asking too much.
Denver's success cannot be attributed purely to Anthony, or even mostly to Anthony... that team is dramatically better than this one, not just at the top 2 slots. In fact it's really a very balanced team in comparison to most of the good squads. It's not like taking the top 2 from the Lakers or Celtics or Cavs or whatever.

Well, depends on how good a defender you think Melo is. I think he's below-average, and Kirilenko is elite. Would I take him over Melo, considering his limitations offensively? No, but the argument can be made for him. I don't think they're in completely different leagues of overall ability.

Re: Carmelo Anthony?
It really doesn't matter b/c the trade isn't even close financially. A trade that does work and one that I would likely do:
Den. gets: Wallace, Okafor, and Nazr
Cha. gets: Anthony and Nene
According to Hollinger trade machine stats. Denver would be +1 in wins and Charlotte would have no effect.

Re: Carmelo Anthony?
The Cats would not got any better. They would have there star but I would rather have 2 reliable semistars then Melo and Kmart because like I said Melo is not a guy you want as your star. It's true Melo has gotten his team to the playoffs but it took Billups for them to be a really good team.
Melo is not a guy who is gonna take you to the finals and win a championship. He is not a good leader considering he plays no D. Plus who would be a 5 Diaw? Diaw-Kmart-Melo-Bell-Felts? I would much rather have our team.
Melo is a better offensive player then Wallace but Wallace is better at everything else. Considering Melo is just a scorer I would rather stick with our team and let Felton develop into a 18-20 point a game guy which is coming soon and Mek becoming a 18 point a game scorer which is possible. Then we would have our 1st 2nd and 3rd option plus a 4th in Diaw. That is much more balanced team and Melo would take away scoring from our pg and C.
Yes Melo's team has a better record then ours but they have Billiups. Felts is becoming as good as Billups as of the past 5 games or at least close to that level of being a very talented pg and if you look at our record for the last 15 games or so were not far off from the Nuggs.
Kmart is one of the best defenders in the game but Kmart and Melo are not near the defenders Mek and Wallace combine for.
