If you're able to have a fun time and get work done then yeah go there. Very easy to lose focus in school. And yes, halloween there is awesome.

let me chime in...

slip on!* Vans - scarfs - tilted hat - white v-neck shirts - outfits with neon colors.

for a visual, just look at Kevin Rudolf. ( he sings "let it rock" )

My experience is they're mostly either country people, fratties, or artsy fartsy hipsters.

its in greenville, which is in the middle of freaking nowhere... just flat and hot. i dated a girl from greenville for many years, i dont really miss that town.

as for the student body, its mostly a party school with a big greek population. mainly a football school, but like amcoolio said, will get whooped by app state... go mountaineers. holla. its about an hour or 90 mins from the beach, thats the major plus. but then again, if you want beach and hot chicks.... GO TO UNC-WILMINGTON. i'm guessing that most of the people that go to ECU are people from eastern nc, who wanted to go to carolina or nc state and couldnt get in. thats not a knock on ECU, carolina is not an easy school to get accepted to.

It kind of depends on your alternatives. There are some good reasons to go to ECU, but as Fatlever said, if you're going for the party lifestyle (which is as good a reason to go to a school as any outside of academic prestige), there are probably cooler alternatives like UNC-W.

If your going there for a quality education then it depends on what your major is. If it's in the medical field then ECU is one of the top 20 or so schools in the country. Also, some of their other programs are highly regarded. So if you know what you want to major in then just look around the internet and see how their programs stack up to other schools.
As for the students just like any school there are a wide variety of students. There are plenty of racist rednecks, liberal hippies, and those who fall in between. Most of the frats consist of the rednecks from NC and alot of you northern kids. If your the type of kid that wants to join a frat don't go there, the frats there are a joke. They are pretty much just like the loser kid in high school who parents went out of town so everyone shows up trashes their house, drinks their keg and doesn't pay, then leaves when either the cops show up or the kegs are empty. Free beer is about all the frats are good for, so you might a well be one of the ones drinking for free then one of the ones paying for beer and your friends.
As for the girls thats about the best part of ECU. During summer you can sit in front of your house and see just about as much fine ass then you could at spring break. As soon as possible move out of the dorms over to first street. It doesn't matter who you are whether your a hippie, redneck, preppy, greaseball, nerd, or whatever you will have no problem getting up with a fine girl. I don't know what the guy to girl ratio is now but when I was there it was at least 2 girls for every guy. Trust me they got some beatiful girls there and even their hippie girls aren't like App States, ECU hippy girls actually shave.
As for sports, football games are great and thats about it. We got a great tradition of being one of the best teams in NC and we are Div 1 unlike some schools. We have a history of beating highly ranked schools and a history of being ranked and going to bowls. Also, with Skip running things like he has we are back to where we belong at or close to the top on NC and back to making bowls on a pretty consistent basis. Granted we won't ever go to the BCS but for NC we are one of the best.

Thanks a lot man. I no one thing for sure, the ECU campus was nicer than anything I've seen in Jersey. I plan on going with a poli sci or economic major, possibly double major. But thanks for the information and see you next year at ECU

I actually got my undergrad and went to grad school there for Econ.. If you don't have an issue sitting in front of a computer all day running SAS you are guaranteed a high paying job when you finish grad school at least that is how it was when I was there. Alot, who finish grad school go to SAS Institute right up the road in Cary except for the exchange students from China. If you don't know about SAS I suggest you look it up to decide if thats something you would be willing to do. I'm sure there are plenty of other jobs you could get but the SAS job immediately after finishing grad school was a done deal when I was there.
