This thread was the precursor to thread #2 which will be:
Do fans feel differently of the golf playing, lady chasing, never at the games, wannabe executive with a made up title than they did 12 months ago when his hand picked head coach flopped. Could be be the executive of the year?
But I'll follow that up in a different thread soon.
Carry on.

This isn't even really worth debating. How could the trade netting us Diaw and Raja (two important starters) not blow away any other transaction?
The good news is we won on all of our transactions this year Vs years past where we'd typically lose.

We gave up too much in the deal. That will never change.
After being able to see Diaw and Raja every night, would you turn around and trade them for just J Rich?

I think you can take the "lady chasing" out of the equation now. He is engaged and living with his fiance.

That is a huge, HUGE reason why cats are successful. Bell is tough, no scared of anybody, and Diaw knows exactly what it takes to win.Marc3287 wrote:And maybe above all both are winners. That has to improve the culture having two guys come in that were apart of a very successful team over the last few years and who expect to win.
Boris is even capable to defer to others to win, he'll do exactly what needs to be done. Obviouly, he's exactly what LB likes.
The analogy with Battier is interesting.
Well, I do think Diaw and Battier borderline franchise player. It doesn't always show in the box score (well not for battier, cause the 15-6-5-1-1-1 line of Boris is sure looking nice).Walt Cronkite wrote:It's like saying Shane Battier is a borderline franchise player
But make no mistakes: it'd take a superstar for the rockets to let go of Battier, nothing less.
Imagine a Battier on the spurs squad: they'd surely win the championship no matter the opponents.

You can't use hindsight. You can only base it on the facts on hand at the time.
For example: We all agree that we have done well in the Ammo/Radman trade. In fact, it's fallen heavily in our favor.
But what happens if next season, the penny drops for Ammo? What if he flourishes in the triangle and, he finds that Zag form that made him the #3 pick, becomes the Lakers starting SF and averages 20ppg/6rpg/4apg shooting 49%/40%/80% and all the while Radman can't hit a shot to save his life and is relegated to Matt Carroll status?
You can't then turn around and say "heck, we gave up too much. We got smoked in that deal" - just because the tables turn.
At the time, Swish was a very productive player, very well liked and a great leader, Dude was a glue guy, hard working fan fav and on the other side Boris was considered to have a contract that was untradeable because his performance was so lacking (and spasmodic) and Bell was disgruntled and had asked for a trade.
Like FFP said, you would think that Swish alone should have been enough to land us Boris and Raja and there shouldn't have been a need to include Dude and the 2nd. Then again, we have no idea of what goes on between teams and the negotiation process.

I think getting Sean Singletary was the turning point.
