In any case the reason quickness is useful is two-fold.
1. Staying in front of your man on defense. (Which DJ does just fine, despite his other flaws defensively)
2. Getting to the hoop(Which DJ does just fine.)
So it would seem he's quick enough....
FWIW I agree DJ isn't slow or unathletic; in fact I thought he was really fast. In the 3/4 sprint he was only 1/100 of a second slower than Felton (3.07 vs 3.06).
I don't think DJ stays in front of his man very well on the drive, and Slam wrote a post on BCP that was very credible on why that's so. On the post up however I thought he was well above average...most could not back him down, which implies DJ has pretty good leg/lower body strength.
More than anything I think he just needs time.
