This yrs DeAndre Jordan

Post#1 » by Felton for Pres » Thu Jun 11, 2009 5:40 pm

Who is the big slider in the draft this year? Last year DeAndre started some mocks in the top 5, then slowly fell to us for awhile and the ultimately lasted til the 2nd round. While that is extreme, there is always a guy that drops.

I'd put Chase Budinger at the top of the list. During the season, he was a possible top 10. Now...not so much. Oddly, Earl Clark seems to be dropping on a lot of boards.

Who do you think slides the mosts?

It could be Brandon Jennings, DeJuan Blair, or even Jordan Hill (if the Mavs-Wiz trade doesn't happen).

Well slide from when. Chase is not projected to be a lottery pick for quiter many weeks now. I would not call it a slide. I imagine draft day slipping or slide during the last week before draft and such things. Otherwise Mullens at tenth would qualify for a slide (he was among the very top prospect of this year one day).

I think the concerns regarding his knees will cause Blair to drop into the late teens. But it could be T-Will, depending upon when you think he should be drafted. There is a very good chance he doesn't go until early to mid 20's. That's a lot for someone that many people here want us to take with #12.

Like someone said it all depends on what you call a slide....I like Blair I think we should/hope we do pick him so if he goes anywhere below the Bulls @ 16 thats a slide to me...I think Jordan Hill's a bust but i dont expect to drop outta the lottery and I see some people on here have/think the 'Cats picking Terrance Williams at 12, I dont think he's even a first round pick so for now thats a hard call to make cuz at this point is all based on your opinion of each players value

Blair, due to the red flags on his knees....

If the Cats draft him.. I don't want to think about that outcome.....

I don't think Blair falls all the way to the second round and he wasn't a lottery or higher consideration before the season started. I don't think Chase fits the description either.

Mullens would fit if he fell that far, but to be this years DeAndre Jordan, that would imply that he can do something in the league given minutes...which is criteria I think BJ would fail.

So.... I don't think there's a DeAndre this season. If Gani Lawal was Aminu, I'd suggest him. Josh Heytvelt, Paul Harris... those guys were lottery projected guys at some point I think, I guess I'll go with one of them...

He wont be a steal if he can't take the court because he carries too much bulk and his knees are shot.

Of course, the knee thing didn't ring true for Granger and we all know how that turned out!!

So, this time I read the op.

I think if Jennings stays in the late lottery he'll probably end up being the steal of the draft.

I think Sam Young will fall further than expected. No reason other than I think he'll be nothing more than a role player.

There's no chance Hill falls very far. The closest you have is Mullens, who like Jordan was projected in the top 5 early on and slowly fell until now Mullens is going ~20 and could still slip further. Maybe Mullens doesn't turn out to be worth a damn, but he's certainly the most similar.
