We have reached the climax of the second track. The Charlotte Bobcats pick. Are you all ready to cash in on what we have been waiting for since the end of the NCAA's ( and for some, even earlier than that! )? I know that I am. We are changing the rules for our pick just a hair. This will be a 3 day vote. We need to pull in some of those other guys who have dropped out from Original War Room, and those who never got started with second track. Everybody gets a chance to vote! Please exercise your preference.
First, let's take a look at the prior selections we have made:
LA Clippers- Blake Griffin
Memphis Grizzlies- Ricky Rubio
Oklahoma City Thunder- Hasheem Thabeet
Sacramento Kings- Brandon Jennings
Washington Wizards- James Harden
Minnesota Timberwolves- Tyreke Evans
Golden State Warriors- Jonny Flynn
New York Knicks- Stephen Curry
Toronto Raptors- Demar DeRozan
Milwaukee Bucks- Jordan Hill
New Jersey Nets- Earl Clark
Now, each of us knows that since these votes were taken, some will move up, others will take lower spots. But the gamesmanship stops somewhere after midnight on June 25th, fellas. Until then, not much is certain. But for the sake of the group having our own first round draft, this has been a pretty good exercise from where I sit. So.....let's take it to its culmination.
Bobcats Nation.....

P.S. I limited our choices to folks who have actually won a vote in the Original War Room. No use including people we haven't elected yet to the Big Board. Good luck, gentleman. We will have to live with our choice, good or bad.

Re: BOBCATS WAR ROOM - SECOND TRACK - BOBCATS ON CLOCK!
I think we have to take Holiday if he falls that far. He's what, an inch shorter than Henderson but with TREMENDOUS UPSIDE.
I expect Williams will win the vote. To be totally honest, I wouldn't mind Daye being the pick. Bassman/most of the board would go bonkers (which would almost be worth it on it's own), but I kinda feel like he'd be LB's selection if he had his way. Take a guy in the lottery with the most potential and with the second rounders you draft the NBA-ready guys that will fall (take a wing and take a big).
All of that written, I think Holiday isn't around, I think Daye is too risky, Hendo really doesn't impress me... let's take Terrence Williams.

T-Willious.
And Walt, you can add me to the bonkers list if we took Daye at #12! Holiday I could learn to live with (although he didn't do well off the ball at UCLA) but Daye would tip me over the edge.

I don't think we have to take Holiday. Sure, he has a lot of upside but that's the thing that scares me. A lot of teams looking at him are looking at him because of his potential not so much what he's accomplished. I don't think there's a need for him on this team and I think Terrence Williams will be the better pro. I chose Williams.

If Holiday is still available then I think we have to go with him. I'd then be looking at a trade (or simply purchase) for another lower first round pick.

I was reading Ford's Chat on ESPN. He said that everything points to Blair's knees being just fine - no issues. He's expected to start moving back up the Boards now. With that, and none of the SG's falling from the top, I'd go with the big horse down low. May is gone, enter Blair.

I'm hoping like hell Hill falls to 12 but at least with TWill you know you're getting a versatile guy who can defend and rebound in a NBA body.

Re: BOBCATS WAR ROOM - SECOND TRACK - BOBCATS ON CLOCK!
All right, here' s my take on this. I'm not going point guard- No Teague, No Lawson, and No Holiday.
Its too early for Hansbrough or Young. Daye shoulda gone back to Gone-zaga. That leaves us with the main entrants for this pick, Gerald Henderson (the draft mock favorite at 12), DaJuan Blair (Grand-Mama 2), and Terrence Williams (the board favorite).
After perusing You Tube and reading on DX, I have come to these conclusions. Henderson is a "nice" player. We don't need stinkin' nice. We need a guy with a motor in him. I'm just not convinced that this should be the first Dookie Bobcat. He seems to be more of a drive guy than a kick em in the teeth shooter from NBA 3 point range. He might fit, but then again, he might not.
When I watched TWill, I thought of two things. His game is VERY reminiscent of our own Gerald "Crash" Wallace. It is also a little similar to a blast from the Charlotte past, Kendal Gill. Big and rangy, and has a nose for the break. Could be a very good player for us.
Blair. Best offensive rebounder in NCAA basketball for the last 8-9 years. Short like Larry Johnson. From what I've read, he is no headcase and has a lot of drive to be excellent. Offensive rebounding, huh. Sounds like a concept we could use to improve our offense!
My recomendation- Draft Blair at 12. Figure out a way to get Minny's pick at 18. Then draft T-Will @ 18. It's a hedge, but I think we really need both guys.

Re: BOBCATS WAR ROOM - SECOND TRACK - BOBCATS ON CLOCK!
To Recap-
Given that the players listed 1-11 are gone when we pick, it is the considered opinion of our Bobcats board that our pick should be:
Terrence Williams
Shooting Guard/Small Forward
Louisville.
I'd like to take a moment and thank everyone who has taken the time to register a vote here at Second Track. Its our team and knowing who we want and why we want them may or may not be a factor on draft night. But we are all fans together. If we choose players who are compatible with our current personnel and coaching staff, we all win. And if the FO chooses someone else, I guess its up to us to rag on them if that guy isn't a better player than the one we wanted.
Congratulations, guys. We picked a good one. Front Office, please take notice.

Thanks for organizing all of this August, I think it's a really beneficial exercise.
