I'm normally on the Raps board and it looks like we might be getting Carroll from Dallas.

Consistent PT...pretty good (weak D but he "tries").
Inconsistent PT...pretty bad.

Matt Carroll should not even be in the NBA. He's a very bad defensive player, terrible ball handler, not a good passer and very inconsistent shooter. The only reason he's still in the NBA is because for 2 seasons he camped out at the 3 point line and managed to knock down 40% of those wide open shots when nobody guarded him during extensive garbage time. However, he does have a very nice bank account so he should be good for the local economy, just not your team.

He's not as bad as all that. He's got decent size and athletic ability. He's not been shown to be completely helpless on defense. The big problem was that he lost his shot. If it comes back, he's overpaid but decent. If it stays gone, he's pretty useless.

I think MC has proven he's a pro-caliber player. Not a starter, but a bench guy. Lots of worse players are in the league. Although few are as well paid.

Garbage time? No way did he do his damage in garbage time. He played way too many minutes and started too many games to say some crap like that. We even tried him out as our go-to-guy in one stretch during the 06-07 season. Didn't work out too well -- obviously -- but he was no worse than anyone else.

Very inconsistent shooter? That's even more crap. Larry Brown **** with his head, but before that, he was perfectly fine and a very consistent shooter. All those 4-point plays weren't just luck.

Terrible ball handler? He's nothing special, but he's far from terrible. I remember a game last season when Raymond was out and we didn't have any backup point guards, so guess who stepped in? Yes, Matt Carroll. He did a solid job, too. This wasn't against some scrub team, either. This was against the Chauncey Billups led Detroit Pistons. We should have won that game, too, but we got screwed over by the refs.

But, that's OK, Battery. I know your agenda -- to bash every ex-Bobcat.

awww come on battery.. i think that post was a little over the top dont you think.

not nba material. yeah, dude got way over paid, but he is decent bench guy. he has good size for a sg, he's tough, plays hard, dives for loose balls, he can make open shots and it actually not half bad at going to the basket. defensively he was miles better than ammo and many other white wings.

Awww jeez, not this sh*t again. Seriously dude, GET. A. CLUE.

First of all, don't accuse me of having an "agenda" whereby I bash every ex-Bobcat. I bashed Okafor, J-Rich, and Carroll while they were Bobcats!! Secondly, Matt Carroll stinks. My point about garbage time has to do with the fact that whenever Matt Carroll plays, IT'S GARBAGE TIME. Could be the first quarter, doesn't matter, the other team isn't taking us seriously. So big whoop he hit a few shots, but for somebody whose ONE strength is suppose to be OUTSIDE SHOOTING, he was faaaar too inconsistent when games were on the line. He hurt us waaaay more often with his "big shot" clunkers than he helped us. Simply hideous.

And defensively, good grief talk about non-existent, well the definition of that is Matt Carroll on "defense." Non-existent. Ball handling? Good God almighty was he atrocious. The only one with worse handles was J-Rich!!! Talk about bumbling and stumbling and tumbling, the Bobcats could have charged extra money for being at the circus!

I think that's the problem, next to Ammo, Matt Carroll did look like an NBA player. Heck, I could have played next to Ammo and looked like an all star!

Bottom line is you aren't winning anything with Matt Carroll on your team. The only team he might be good on is the Knicks because he can sit behind the 3 point line and hoist up open shots all day long while not having to worry about getting back on defense.

He was fine for us. Kapono seemed to play well in Toronto, and while Carroll might not be as good of a pure shooter, he does just about everything else better than Kapono. Add in a contract that is front-loaded, and I think it's a good move for Toronto to acquire him. I guess it depends on what they give up for him, but if they need a Kapono-type player again, he'd work well if he gets the minutes.

Wow Battery. I can't say I'm surprised, but really?

Hammer was a really great 6th or 7th guy for us. He was a tenacious defender and generally a great 3 point shooter. He was money from the corners and I want to say left FT line extended wing, but it might have been the opposite side. He kept teams honest by having a good first step to pump fake and drive, where he had a real knack for getting to the ft line.

If Belinelli busts or isn't ready and if DeRozan needs more time as well, Carroll should play well enough that you won't miss Kapono. He has a... not so great contract, but it was frontloaded, so that's a plus.

This is laughable. The season Matt Carroll started the most (47 out of 72 games) we won 33 games. By comparison, we won 35 games this season.

If the other team isn't taking Carroll seriously, that's perfectly fine with me. I hope every team doesn't take the Bobcats seriously. I mean, it could only help, right?

You guys take the 5 or 6 good Carroll games and somehow manage to turn that into 200. Matt Carroll stunk 90% of the time. The other 10% he was mostly mediocre with a sprinkle of good every now and then.

With the amount of whining over losing "studs" like J-Rich, Okafor, and Carroll, an outsider would get the impression we broke up a championship team.

I think you're drinking too much at the games, Battery, and it's interfering with your judgment. Instead of taking what someone says at face value, you twist it around. No one on here is whining about losing Matt Carroll and no one is calling him a stud. But your description of him is far off, which is why I said something. You trash Carroll and love Bell, but the two were roughly equal offensive players in seasons past.

I would gladly take Okafor back, though. I would also trade Bell and Henderson for J-Rich, as I've said before, because they are studs. :D
