3 or 4 teams stand out to me....

Amcoolio - Roy and Billups will be difficult in the playoffs, I´ve never been a big fan of Bynum. The rest of the team is a little mediocre by the standards of this game. The bench especially is not impressive to me.

Doc - If Brand and Dirk can play togerther this is a mean team. I think in the end you just have to suck it up and put Brand on the bench. It´s difficult to overstate what a bad defensive player Calderon is. Guys like Billups, Parker, or Deron Williams will score 40 or 50 on him if left alone. The bench might be the best, I think Pryzbilla is underatted.

Paydro - Best frontcourt and Manu/Rondo is nothing to wink at either. People dont know how good Nene is for some reason. Very deep as well with Kirilenko and Jamison coming off the bench. The only concern is at the end of the game when Perimiter players tend to take the most shots whether Manu can do it alone. His health is a little iffy as well.

JDM3 - Top to bottom very solid team. They will always have at least one matchup significantly in their favor, but they will also never have the best individual player in a playoff series against the above teams.

honerable mentions: LOD could be good. I´m deeply skeptical about a Wallace/Boozer Frontcourt. Who protects the rim? Also, having seen "Mighty Ducks" I´ll give them about 20 games until somebody Spreewells Jack Reilly. ST8 up has some potential with Pierce/Melo but the rest of the team is kind of meh. I´m not going to bet on Harden and Durant to win a playoff series until I´ve seen them play in one first.

so I´ll vote:

1st place: Doc
2nd Place: Paydro
3rd Place: coolio

i'll admit, my team kinda fell apart after pierce, melo and battier. a few picks didnt work out as a had planned which kinda threw off my plan. plus my 3 best players basically play the same position.

good times.

i'm ready for round two.

Yes, it could be fun to do this all again, next summer we would have different players in some cats like several players would be 35 next year, new rookies, undrafted, second round picks, non-lottery picks and new all-star participant.

As for results, that exceeded my expectations, i was just having fun in the picking process and was aiming for middle of the pack/better half anything more is a bonus. I guess although i didn't felt it at first having tghe very first pick and Nowitzki helped, moreover for his versatility cat-wise as he was eligible for euro, 7footers, knucklehead and all-star which later on gave me great flexibility and let me draft Brand in the last round (for the price of not getting younger Gasol 2nd round/7ft and Noah <8ppg which was high on my draft kit for those cats)

I will take 5th. Most people went the way I thought they would and I built the team I wanted. People say I have no starts but I built a team I thought could not get shut down. There is no player you can ignore on my team. Also if any one member of my team is having a bad offensive night I have a sub who can fit in and contribute a different skill set. I made my team to be amorphous where any of my top ten could be a starter or sub to fit the needs of the team for each match-up. A guy in the top five in three different categories and 4 all-stars. If depth is an issue I would be fine but I do lack the big name star power of other teams so I understand why I did not get many votes. It was fun and shows how people have different opinions on what a good team would be.

I ended up super-thrilled by my bench, but I think Gasol in the first round was a mistake, I was too excited about taking a great player who filled a hard-to-get category rather than just taking the best player I could get and figuring out categories later. Also I think e4 is right, Nene is a little underrated, he had a pretty spectacular season, and IMO is the real reason the Nuggets got better.

I'm surprised nobody brought up what I thought my team's biggest problem was, something I started trying to deal with as soon as I took Rondo... a lack of shooting. I am confident my inside will be dominant, but if a team shuts that down, only Ginobili is going to punish you deep unless I put in Curry or put Jamison at 3, at which point my defense starts to suck.

Anyway, e4's vote doesn't change the standings, but it does put Doc closer to coolio, and me closer to LoD and a little bit separated as the 4th place team.

If you go back and look I pretty much said exactly what you just did. You needed another shooter to stretch the floor especially at the SF spot and if you put Jamison there he'd be admirable but would also be even more of a turnstile than normal.

Also Nene and Gasol was the reason you were in my top 3. I only voted for teams that I thought would have the best inside play on both offense and defense. So at least from me you got big credit for Nene. If you wouldn't have picked him he was next on my list as long as walt would have agreed which he probably would have.

Congrats to Amcoolio on the win, it seems like Larry Legend put you over the top.
