OT: Byron Scott Fired

Post#1 » by Battery » Thu Nov 12, 2009 7:04 pm

From the wiretap....

Marc Stein is reporting Byron Scott, head coach of the New Orleans Hornets, was fired. The team has underperformed starting the season with a 3-6 record.

Via ESPN.com

I'm shocked he was canned right now but not completely surprised because the Hornets have looked lousy. That GM needs to look in the mirror.

Guess Okafor's fancy +/- stat couldn't save Scott's job. :)

Only Chris Paul and Okafor are playing well on that team. Sometimes it looks like Paul is mad at Okafor only because Chandler got traded for him. (The same way Iverson got treated by Detroit players after Billups got traded)

Let's just hope CP3 waits til the summer of 2011 to ask for a trade.

I would rejoice, that would be the next best thing to Wade or Lebron deciding to come here.

DJ is a NO native FYI.... the Hornets do like to trade their stars (we should know)... this IS a possibility at some point. Paul doesn't accept losing very well, and if this team continues to suck (which it will under Floyd/Bowers) then perhaps we have a shot here.

Chris Paul in Charlotte... :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

If Paul hates losing, why in gods name would he ever consider coming here?

Cause we got Tyson Chandler! (then everybody would think we robbed them in that trade, lol)

It may be hard to believe with the way Tyson Chandler has played in a Bobcat uniform so far, but TC had more to do with that teams success then he'll probably ever get credit for.

There was a certain magic between him and Paul that seemed to elevate the play of the entire team. He brought a certain level of defensive intensity to the club, that is completely non-existent at this point, and he really fired up his teammates and the crowds with the big dunk plays. I think team chemistry is often a very important aspect of a teams success that can find it's way being over looked by some fans and media, who focus more on boxcores.

Tyson's injury riddled season really sank that team last year, and they have never recovered.

Okafor is who he is, a 13/10 guy, with or with out Chris Paul. From what I've seen of the Hornets this season, him and Paul have not really gelled like some thought they would.

Scott is a good coach, and will have no problem finding another job in the league.

If Tyson Chandler is smart, he'll opt out of his contract and sign a short term deal where ever CP3 is next year so he can rejuvenate his career, again.

Where ever CP3 is next year?

No way, Tyson would opt out from 12,600,000.
