Vlad?

Post#1 » by floppymoose » Wed Nov 25, 2009 7:53 pm

Always a touchy subject to talk about the players involved in a recent trade, but I have little tact.... so...

What did you guys and gals think about Vladrad? I've been kinda surprised by what I've seen from him, and I'm wondering if what I'm seeing is new or not. So tell me how he played for the Cats.

He had moments where he looked great. He obviously has that beautiful rainbow like J, but he also showed an ability to drive and throw down a little when he got there. Outside of the very ocassional drive, he is a spot up jump shooter - and that's it.

Usually he would rotate quite well on D, but only very simplistically. If he was ever forced to make a quick decsion on D (like when to switch out), forget about it. He was often caught in no mans land and if he is ever caught in the paint opposing players found it very easy to score on him.

I liked him, just not for the price tag that came with him. If he was a $2 mill a year player I would be happy to have him.

Outside of that, every time I watched him play all I could think of was that Fabio was better (on both sides of the ball), cheaper and better looking and we should have just hung onto him to play that 3/4 energy role.

Now that I have taken so much time and care to answer your queastion, can we have Anthony Randolph please??

Hehe. You guys would be calling for AR's head if he were there now. He's still very much a work in progress. But the potential... omg.

What impressed me about Vlad recently was the defense. His rotations have been great, and his effort has been great. He had to play all 48 minutes against the Mavs because we only had 6 players, and he guarded Dirk the entire time. Dirk had 28 points in a GS-pace game. I'll take it. Dirk had to earn all of them.

Vlad is a better defender than his rep would imply, he just can't guard power players (something LB forced him to do). Lots to like, but for that price tag he was a real burden to a franchise desperate to make the playoffs. I expect he'll probably work towards rebuilding his value in the GSW system and eventually yield a decent asset if your team chooses to move him for something instead of just letting his salary come off the books.

Maggette could of played but has a sore hamstring..Chris Hunter, recently called up from the D league, was the only other available player .

What I like about Dracula is that he knows who he is as a NBA role player. So refreshing for a warriors fan who has to watch the Corey Maggette's and Azubuike's of the world on a nightly basis.

I hope SJax is kicking ass for ya'll, cause VladRad was totally built for Warriors basketball. He had a hell of a game last night. We lost the game because we sat him most of the 4th, plain and simple.
